Coming Events
Sunday, Oct. 19th - District C Fall
Convention in Meaford, Ont.
Last summer many Canadian
Veterans returned to Italy to pay
their respects to the 5,900 Cana-,
dians who are buried in Italian
cemeteries located all through the
country, right from the south to
the north.
Last weekend at the reunion of
the Hastings and Prince Edward
Regiment, we heard an account of,
visit to the cemetery near
Ravenna of a man -dressed in
civilian clothes placing a -wreath
on a Canadian grave. ' Tony
BascianO, one of the delegates
from the regirhent, went over to
the man to find out who he was. It
turned out that he was a German
.Sergeant who had fought against
the Canadians in that area, and
-who with his section had captured
five Canadians.
The German Sgt. spoke good
English and told Tony that if he
could get the address of the five
Canadian boys ''that he had
captured, he would write to them
and send them enough money in
order that they might visit him in
Germany.
Tony was quite touched -by this
sentiment, and thought it worth-
while passing it along to us.- I feel
also that it is certainly worth
publishing.
