prevented by heeding these
simple rules.
SMOKING — Do not smoke in
bed, in the attic, closets or
garage.
MATCHES — Keep out of reach
of children's hands. Place used
matches in incombustible
trays. Keep "strike anywhere"
matches in closed metal boxes.
"Safety matches" are safest.

PLANTS — Have them cleaned,
examined and repaired if
necessary once a year. Protect

FLUE STOPS — Use metal kind.
Do not paper over flue holes or
"stuff with rags. '
ASHES — 'Use only Metal recep-
tacles. Do not,,dump- hot ashes
against anything which can
burn.
GASOLINE KEROSENE,
BENZINE, NAPTHA' — Do not
store or use on home premises.
They give off explosive vapours
even at very low temperatures.
ELECTRICITY — Have a licensed
electrician do all electrical
work and repairs. Do not use.

When Proper Observance is Given to These Simple Rules:
1. See that wiring extensions are carried out by
qualified and experienced wiring contractors.

Inspector of the Hydro-Electric Power
- Commission of Ontario.
2. Never use fuses larger than 15 amper'es on
branch ,circuits i r house. ,
3. Don't "plug" fuses by inserting coins behind
them.The fuse serves similarly to the safety valve
of a boiler.
4. Make freqUent inspection of flexible cords.
5. Don't hang any electric wire on nails. Don't tack
extension cords tO baseboard or walls.
6. Keep electrical heating devices away from •
combustibles.
7. Keep lamps away from clOthing, paper, etc.
8. Never use iron, toaster or lamps as bed warmers.
9. Install convenience outlets to avoid• excessive
lengths of extension cords.
10. NEVER USE GASOLINE IN YOUR ELECTRIC

circuits. Never plug blown
fuses with pennies nor replace
with oversize fuses. Keep extra
fuses on -hand.
