Obituaries
A project of the Missions and
Service committee of Exeter
United Church in Exeter is
expected to become a reality by
November 1 of this year.
Committee chairman Roland
McCaffrey announced this week
that the residence for young
adults directly across Andrew
street from the church will be
open by that time.
The property was offered to the
church early in the year by its
owner Mrs.Alma Southcott for
one half the appraised value
providing it was used for
community work.
The committee spent abOut a
year in analyzing the needs of 'the
community before deciding to
establish a home for retarded
young adults. The h ouse is being
leased • to the South Huron
Association for the Mentally
Retarded:
While applications for f re ,sidence in the home are being
accepted by the committee it is
likely most will be trainees from
the ARC workshop at Dashwood.
Four persons can be.
accommodated at one time along
with a house parent.
The committee is now open for
requests for admission. The type
of resident expected will be
higher functioning adults in their
20's and 30's who have fairly well
developed selfhelp skills and are
capable of being involved in the
general operation of the home.
The home is expected to be a
levning and training centre
where the residents will go to, a
less supervised type of
accommodation such as a sha red
apartment.

earlier in these notes. Mrs. Marie
Seiler, Mrs. Sarah Henderson and
Mrs. Lucy Bushie.
The kitchen staff have been
busy making birthday cakes for
each. On the actual day these are
brought in complete with lighted
candles. While the recipient
blows out the candles the whole
staff appears and sings "Happy
Birthday".
Seaforth racing driver Johnny
Muir was honoured in Goderich
'Friday night, when he was named
top driver at the Goderich Race-

cheque, said he had been *ad
in points all year so the honour
wasn't really a surprise. He's
been driving for four years and
competed this year against 70 or
80 different drivers.
He drives 'his own pacer, Single
Johnnie and two other horses.
Friday was the last night of racing
at Goderich but John says he will
now be driving at the London
