Entertain Mr., Mrs. Fred Brock
Mr. and Mrs. Roy McCulloch of
Cromarty celebrated, their Golden
Wedding Anniversary with a
dinner in Cromarty church on
Friday evening. As well as
relatives and former neighbours,
guests included Helen Houghton
and Mr. and Mrs. John Saunders
of Windsor.
On Saturday night, open house
was held at Russeldale Hall with
the Silvertones providing music
for' dancing. Lunch and a social
hour followed. The McCullochs
were pleasantly surprised on Sat-
urday afternoon when a good
friend, Mrs. Alvin Bayley of
Vancouver, arrived to help them
celebrate.
Mrs. McCulloch was the former
Jessie Graham and the couple
were married at the Cromarty
• Manse by the Rev. David Ritchie.
Theirs was the last wedding
performed on the Cromarty-Roys

Anniversary Services of Varna
United Church on Sunday. Rev'. J.
Ostreicher of Clinton was the
guest preacher at the morning
service.Scripture was from John
12: 26 - 32. In his sermon "What
Kind of Church do You Want?"
he suggested that friendship,
faithfulness and involvement
were the most important
qualities. Special music was
provided by the Selwood Gospel
Singers of Toronto, Hamilton and
' Guelph. In the evening the
Selwoods presented a concert of
sacred music.
Mr. and Mrs. Alistair Taylor of
Willowdale spent the weekend
with Rev. and Mrs. Alex Taylor.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Chessell during the week-end
were Mr. and Mrs.Frank Dods,
Mr. and Mrs.Ted 'Hoyle, Mr.
Warren Graff and Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Chessell and Charles, all
of Stratford. On Saturday
morning, the Chessells attended
a euchre party in Mitchell
honouring Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Smith of Bornholm on their silver
Wedding Anniversary.

were the groom's sister Lila, Mrs.
Calder McKaig, and the bride's
brother, Sterling Graham. Fol-
lowing the wedding, a reception
was held at the home of the brides
parents.
The couple lived for 19 years in
Cromarty, then moved to a farm
31/2 miles east of the village
where they lived and farmed until
retiring to Cromarty six years
ago:
Their family consists of three
daughters; Jean, Mrs. Ken Davey
of London; Mary, Mrs. Bill
Baxter, of Mitchell; and Helen,
Mrs. Bob Waddell, of Guelph.
There are eight grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
Greetings were received from
the Governor-General,'Bill Jarvis,
M.P. Hugh Edighoffer, M.L.A.,
Premier Davis, as well as a
provincial plaque.

Reid on Sunday were Rev.
Ostreicher of Clinton, Mrs.Blake

In the championship ball game
for the Ross Scott Trophy,
Colborne 'Junior Boys defeated

Harvest Thanksgiving Service
was held at St. Paul's Anglican
Church. The service was
conduCted by the R ev.
G.A.Anderson. The theme of the
sermon was "Thanks". Mrs.
Rowland McCaffrey of Exeter,
euests soloist, sang "The Lost
Chord" and "0 Lord of All".
The church was decorated with
vegetables and flowers. The
Forrest Orchestra accompanied
the singing of the hymns.'
Steel girders for the roof of the
addition to the Big 0 Drain Tile
Company Limited were hoisted
into place on Monday morning.
The work is being carried out by
John Relouw of Exeter.

John D. Noakes, son of Mr. and

award in recognition of his
outstanding achievement in his
course of studies in elecronies.
Mrs. Elizabeth Volland, aged
91, was one of Hensall's Senior
Citizens who voted at the election

daughter, Mrs. Irene Finlkyson,
Mrs. Volland has resided in
Hensall for the past nine years
but this iS the first time she has
voted since losing her eyesight.

away in South Huron Hospital on
Thursday, September 18th, at
Kippen in his 99th year. He was
the husband of the late Agnes
..Prior to moving to Kip/An
the late Mr. Thompson farmed for
many years on Highway #4
•between H ensall and Kippen.

Mrs. Grace Peck has returned
home after an extended visit at
the homes of her sister and
brother, the Lyle Statham's and
Lorne Elder's of Kingsville. She
was accompanied home by her
sister, Mrs.Fred Howe, who will
be joining her husband in Niagara
Falls where he has been in
hospital, and they will be leaving
shortly for Tuscon, Arizona.
