Vacation Bible School was held in Egrnondville last week and Monday's attendance-of 76 rose to 102 on Thursday. Reverend Arthur Yielding's grand- daughter was up to help the kids with their crafts. A crowd of 1233 pork lovers partook -of the annual Fork Barbeque and dance in the Seaforth Arena. Hundreds' tnnie had to be turned away, because , the capacity of the barbeque operated by Leo Kroonen -of Dublin was strained to the limit. 'They awarded, the Ho-gess crown to Cathy Madill, 16, of Blyth, and second place to Judy Miller, 20, of riasbwood. The runner ups were Barbara Miller, 17, of' Exeter, Glenna Ellis, 16, of Clinton, Teresa Ondrejicka, 17, of Exeter and Jackie VanDoornik, 17, of R.R.#4, Seaforth. Cathy, a student at Central Huron Secondary School in Clin- ton was chosen over five other Contestants. Cathy will be a contestant in the Western Ontario competition- location not determined as yet. It was a cool, windy day with a few. showers, The rain held off just long enough to have the sports activities outside. Several games, races and relays and stunts were performed. The boys, fifteen and under were given one trial run at * kicking the slipper and Bradley Mas tin's ended up high on the roof of his grandfat her's (Albert Siemon) house. This amused everyone:it"•was theresult of an extremely high kick, a gust of wind . After the rest of sports a few enjoyed a game of soccer in the drizzle. The sports committee consisted of Darlene Carnochan, Iii Barrie Riehl and Eric Driscoll. Next year's committee will be Bradley ,Martin, Oshawa and Larry Dowson, Hensall. Prize for youngest person present went to Paul Brogks, Ridgetown. The ones comi4g the farthest distance e 6 went to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rode, Michelle and Elizabeth from ,Montreal. The closest anniversary prize was won by Mr. and Mrs,Ca rl Siemon, Walton. It was on September eleventh. FolloWing the sports a smorgasbord lunch was enjoyed in the basement and recreation room. The lunch committee consisted of Mrs. Martha Rock, Mitchell and Mrs. Mabel Rode, Listowel. Next year's lunch committee will be Mrs. Annabelle' Spiece, Niagara Falls, Mrs. Frieda Siemon, Seaforth. Business was conducted by Darlene Carnochan and a hearty vote of thanks was given to Keith Siemon for the use of his nice home and grounds. Next year's reunion will be held at Brodhagen 'pharriber of Commerce. People attended from Montreal, Oshawa, Ridgetown, Mount Albert, Belmore, Lucan, Palmerston, Listowel, Hensall, Bornholm, Mitchell, and Walton and crafts. The highlight of the week was, a Friday afternoon bus trip, enjoy- ed by residents of Seaforth Manor and Queensway Nursing Home Hensall. Although rain was fall- ing it did not dampen the enthusiasm of our residents. They took a trip through the country and the Stratford park and saw the flowers, swans and ducks along the river road. The , bus driver was Art Strong who drove the group on their merry way. Emil Hermansen attended the Exeter Rodeo on Saturday, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wilhelm. Ada Reid accompanied by Beth Bechley attended the supper at the ,United Church on Tuesday eyeing. Bessie Davidson attended a farewell dinner for her niece, Mrs. Cliff Manning, who after visiting her, was returning to her Winnipeg home. The dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dunlop of Friday and local guests were Mrs. Chas. Boyd of Walton and Annie McNichol. Correspondent Mrs. John Templeman Staffa #1 4-1-1 Homemaking Club on "A Touch of Stitchery" met Wednesday evening August 27 at the home of Mrs. George Vivian. The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 6 at Mrs. Spencer Jeffery's and each Saturday morning following. Mrs. Jeffery gave a brief treasurer's report. Mrs. Vivian discussed the requirements for this project and the materials suitable for each chosen article. Mrs. Jeffery explained various articles necessary for embroidery kits and record books and Mrs. Vivian showed how primary colours form secondary colours. She also held various quizes for zip colours. It was decided to call the club the "Staff Nifty. Needlers". Personals Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Vivian and Mr. and Mrs. Carter Kerslake are holidaying in the western provinces. Bob and Hazel Sadler and John and Roberta Templeman, were guests at the Kennedy-King wed,d)ri,g, at ,the Sacred Heartm, Chirrcb in Teeswater on Friday evening. Gordon and Jean Parsons, Mike Parsons and Mary Jane Templeman were guests at the Kilpatrick-Moore wedding • in Toronto on Friday. Mrs.Dorlene Norris, Brampton visited on the weekend with Mr. Sam Norris and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Norris and family. Garry returned to Brampton with her after spending the surnmeron the farm. Richard Templeman attended a birthday party for Ross Bowman, Fullarton on M onday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Norris, Jill. and Robert visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John Burleigh and family, Goderich. Shirley Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller, placed first in the step dancing competition at Family Paradise on Sunday. 4 • • Sixteen-year old Cathy Madill of Blyth was named Pork Hostess for Huron County at the annual barbeque-dance held at the Seaforth Community Centre, Thursday night sponsored by the Huron County Pork Producers' Association, Candidates (Continued from Page 1) threat of regional government. Nixon to Visit Riding This Monday, Liberal leader, Robert Nixon will make a short visit to the Huron-Middlesex riding. Also visiting with Mrs. Reid were Mr. and Mrs. John Wain of Bayfield, Mrs.' John Marks of London and Mrs. E. McCartney. Ludger Seguin was surprised by a visit from his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Aur- ile Seguin of Montreal. Mr. Seguin had not seen his brother for some twelve years so they recalled many happy memories. Mrs. A. Dennis visited Mrs. Cartwright Hawley and Zachariah McSpadden. Ruth Carter of Woodstock visited her father Wilbur Keyes.
