He was born three miles east of Brussels on a farm.
After farming for 33 years, he moved to Walton
where he and his brother-in-law started the egg
grading station which he ran for 11 years. Since then
he has retired and keeps a garden at his, hdrne. For
those collecting history on the area, he could tell

Orehestra, Jean Bewley showed
slides taken of the young couple's
wedding which took .place in
Scotland on July 11, 1975. She
also showed many pictures of the
flowers, scenery and homes of
that country.
Mr. and Mrs.Walter Bewiey,
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McCall
and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Williamson were present at the
wedding.
Prior to lunch the happy yoang
couple were called to the platform
when Graeme Craig read the
address of Congratulations and
Best Wishes, and Alex McEw ing
presented them with an envelope
of money, on behalf of their
friends, neighbors and relatives.
Both John and Doreen expressed
their thanks to everyone present
and served wedding cake after
sandwiches and coffee.

Evelyn Hupfer of Wingham
and Mrs. Harry Hupfer of Detroit
spent a couple of days this past
week with Mrs. Charles
McCutcheon. They all visited
their cousin, Emma Walker who
is a patient in the Listowel
Hospital.
Mrs. Ray Nelson and sons,
Robert and Michael returned to
their home in Vancouver, B.C. a
week -ago Friday following a
weeks visit with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Watson and
bcother Gerald and Mrs. Watson
and family .
Mrs. Don Achilles and
Margaret Shortreed attended the
leaders' 4-H Huron County
Homemaking training school in
Wingham for the fall project,
"Let's Rake firead" last
Thursday and Friday. They are
the !eiders of the Walton I Club.
Club members must be 12 by
September 2. Anyone wishing to
join this club should contact
either Mrs.Achilles or Margaret
Shortreel.
Mr. and Mrs.Robert Pritchard, .
Kim and Mark of London spent
the Labor Day weekend at the
home of Mrs. Pritchard's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Watson.
Visiting recently with Mr. and
Mrs. James McDonald were:

Mary Spier of Brock, Sask; Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Sholdice of
Mississauga; and Mr. and Mrs.
Stan McDonald of Lathrup
Village, Michigan. They were all
present for the Golden Weddilig
Anniversary party for Jim and
Edna in the Walton Hall on
Saturday evening, August 23.
Mr. and Mrs. Walt er Bewley
have returned home following a
ten-day visit in Edmonton, Alta.
with their daughter, Brenda
Bewley, R.N. and other friends.
Anne Watson received her
Provincial Honors, a completion
of 12, 4-H Homemaking Clubs at
the Achievement Day for the
Garden Club in Seaforth recently.
Visiting Mrs. Charles
McCutcheon for the Labor Day
weekend were: Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver Riley and their family;
Mary Beth, Lynda Lee and Mrs.

,Friday the 1st annual Walton
Invitational Squirt Ball
Tournament had to be cancelled
on Saturday. It is now res-
scheduled for next Saturday,
September 6 at the Walton Ball
Park. The first game starts at 10
A.M. with the chafttpinnship
game at 6:30 p.m.
The boys are hoping for much
better weather. The teams
participating are Dublin, Ripley,
Teeswater, Rostock, Blyth.

Randy, Scott and Michael
Beuerman of St. Marys were
spending holidays at the home of
their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
James Shortreed.

Mrs. Stewart Damage reported
their dog was taken and tied with
a length of rope in a neighbours
corn field, He was heard barking
but if he'd not been found, he
would have starved to' death.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Smith
returned home from a visit with
Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Stephenson,
Rexdale.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hulley
visited with friends 4: Selkirk and
relativeS in Dorchester and Lon-
don. Debbie and Dave returned
home with them after their
holidays.
Vickie Harris returned home
