The Walton Women's Institute
held their August meeting in the
community hall on Wednesday
evening, August 20th.
The president, Mrs. Don
AZhilles opened the meeting in
the usual manner. The treasurer
gave her report following the
regular pennies for friendship
collection,
Mrs. Keith Rock was appointed
the voting delegate at the area
convention at Atwood on October
1-2. An article-is to be donated for
the gift stall at the convention.
The Institute decided to enter a
display at the Brussels Fall Fair
with Mrs. Herb Traviss and Mrs.
Graeme Craig in charge of
arrangements.
The leaders for the fall 4-H
project, "Let's Bake Bread" will
be Dianne McNichol, Jennie
Rennick, Pearl McCallum,
Alberta Hudie, Kathy Achilles
and Margaret Shortreed.
The meeting was then turned
over to the Resolution conveners.
Mrs. Grame Craig read a thought
"One Voice". Mrs. Jan Van Fleet
showed interesting slides of the
Institute's bus trip to the Elmira
area in June. Mrs. Craig gave the
motto "You cannot expect to get,
unless you get up and go.",
followed by a telephone quiz.
Mrs. Van Vliet conducted a
very informative "telephone
debate", when two groups were
formed and their finding given by
`Mrs. Nelson Marks and Mrs. Bill
Humphries.
Institute Grace was sung and
lunch was served by
hostesses, Mrs. Keith Rock. Mrs.
Harold Hudie, Mrs. Eleanor
Lippard, Mrs. Dave Watson and
Mrs. Allan McCall,.
Local Girls attend Achievement
Nine 4-H clubs attended the
Garden Club's Seaforth Area
Achievement Day on Friday,
August 22, 1975.
The Walton Club under the
leadership of Pearl McCallum and
Bev. Smith put on a skit "How to
cook vegetables" during the
afternoon program.
Those completing the summer
club which taught the use of
vegetables were: Margaret
Shortreed, Anne Watson, Mary
Watson, Mary Searle,, , Nanc.i
Bennett, Mary Alice Ryan, Laura
Dennis, Linda Axtmann, Joanne
Bovan, Dianne Godkin, Jane
Schade, Debbie Dawn and Joyce
McCallum.
The fall project is to be "Let's
Bake Bread".

' Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smalldon of
Fort Erie spent a couple of days
over the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Smalldon.
Sunday School at Duff's United
Church will commence for their
fall and winter season on Sunday,
September 7 at 10:15 a.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Rick Smith, Tara
and Don of Thompson, Man.,
were recent visitors with Mrs.
Phyllis Dunk.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Clark and
family spent the weekend at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John McGillvary at
Dorchester.
A number of ladies from this
area attended the Horticulture
Flower Show and turkey supper in
Brussels Anglican, Church on
Friday, August 22.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. James McDonald who will'
celebrate their 50th Wedding
Anniversary on September 2.
A dance was held in their honor
on Friday evening in the
Walton Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Ryan of
Montreal, Mrs. Phillip Speak of
Woodstock and Mrs Robson Press
of Edmonton called on the Ryan
families last week.
Miss Rosemary Ryan of
Calgary is spending a few weeks
at the home of her parents Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Ryan.
Mr. and s. Joseph Ryan and
Rosemary sent the weekend in
Kincardine a the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ja Rowland and
family.
Additional contributions to the
Seaforth' Lions park campaign
have been received and bring the
total receipts to $3,783.10.
