The council made these appointments during their Aug. 5th council meeting. The drain by-laws for the McDougall and Down drains were passed, and wait for final approv- al from the Ontario Municipal -"Board. Birnam Excavating won the tenders for both the McDoug- all and Down drains offering to do the job for $6,378.36 and $6556.28 respectively. He under bid the three either firms that placed their bidelor the contracts for the drains. By-laws regarding the Essery Drain, $12800, the Ste- ward Drain for $23,006, and the Winchelsea Drain for $23,900 were passed. County Planner Nick . Hill presented a draft of planning conclusions that will be presented at the final Planning Workshop held on August 7. Council approved for payment the road account of $27,161.26 and the general account of $27,119.51. The audit report of July 5, was accepted and council approved of the publication of the required sections. Rod was the recipient of' five scholarships, including the Birks' Gold medal, Iffor highest, standing in his year. He was also the recipient of the Alumni Association Prize at the Presbyterian College for outstanding contribution to the life of the College. After a year of professional training at Presbyterian College he plans to enter the ministry of the Presbyterian Church. Correspondent Mrs. Bertha MacGregor Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reid of Hensall celebrated their thirty- fifth wedding anniversary at the Pineridge Chalet, Hensall on Saturday `evening. A Wilily dinner was enjoyed, by thirty-five relatives and friends. The table was centered with a three-tier anniversary cake and decorated with red roses. Mr. and Mrs. Reid were married at the Hensall U nited ChurchManse, August 17, 1940 by' Rev. Brooke. John Reid of Hensell was his brother's best man and Mrs. Margaret Waye attended the bride. Carmel Presbyterian SUnday School Picnic Grades 3, 4, 5, 6 was held at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Al Hoggarth. Mrs. Robert Taylor and Mrs. Hoggarth organized the fun and games. Bride honoured at shower Hensall Legion Hall was the setting for a bridal shower on Sunday , August 17th when Mrs. Donna Lavery and..Mrs. Dianne Warry of London were hostesses in honor of Miss Caroline McCann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clement J. McCann, Dashwood. Two contests were arranged by the hostesses and one by Mrs. BillTinney andMiss Judy Kirk. A "doll cake" was drawn for and won by Miss Kathy Sangster.Mrs Donna Lavery read a poem. The bride was the recipient of many miscellaneous gifts and gave thanks to all. Serving refreshments wer Miss Sherry Gilfiilan, Miss Roxanne Lavery, Miss Wendy Gilfillan, Miss Debbie Lang. Over forty guests attended from London, Dashwood, Hensall, Watford, Exeter, Seaforth, Kirkton, Kippen and Ancaster.
