Robert Jacob Heil was
appointed Hensall's new town
clerk at the council meeting
Tuesday night. He will st art
September 1.
Council considered a request
from B.M.Ross regarding
sanitary sewers which asked
council to determine which vacant
lots will not require service, It
was decided to phone for
clarification of the instructions so
the work could proceed.
Councillor Knight felt they
should get the information as
soon as possible in case a delay
would become an excuse to hold
up the sewer project.
A letter from the Ministry of
Transportation said that the new
illumination of the town was not
warranted so they would only pay
for half the installation cost and
Hensalrwould be responsible also
for the future maintenance.
Council will send an estimate of
cost which is good for 28 days and
they hope to get an answer right
away. Council is willing to pay its
half of the cost.
The home renewal plan has
been approved but the Money will
'not be available for two or three
weeks.
Hensall agreed to pay its share
for senior citizens who wish to use
the facilities of the Exeter Senior
Citizens -Home. For each tenant
from Hensall the cost will be l /32,
of 71/2 % of any deficit.
Building permits were issued to
John Taylor, King St. for
renovations to the house; to John
Henderson, Richmond St. tcrerect
a patio deck; to Lorne Archer,
Brock St. to build a garage.
Council learned of a meeting on
August 13 when councils would
be asked to consider having a
Housing Corporation to
administer all public housing
county-wide. It was felt that
someone should attend.. The
Ministry of Housing wanted
comments and suggestions
regarding the 'improve meat of
downtown core 'areas.
Village foreman Ernie Davis
reported using 15 bags of calcium.
chloride, patching Richmond St.
North, fixing the drain a t the
Presbyterian Church, taking
down a tree at Gary LaWrence's
and the Provincial-flag which was
stolen and replaced at a cost of
$20.88: He was instructed to take
down a dead tree at Travers and
to start digging for a tile at Mrs.
Turners as she had 10" of water
in her basement after the last
rain.
