From early morning when the
first picnic tables were moved in
until eleven o'clock at night when
the last ball game ended, Crow-
arty Park was a hive of activity on
Saturday.
The first game of softball got
underway about 10 o'clock when
Elimville peewee girls defeated
Hibbert 16-14. For Hibbert Betty
Upshall and Nancy Scott divided
the pitching duties. This game
was followed by a game for
beginning players in which Jeff
Elloitt's team defeated Dean
Elliott's by 20-19. Coaches for
this group are'Gwen Harburn and
'Claildette Elliott.
In the Hibbert Peewee Boys'
game Hibbert I defeated Hibbert
II by 20-9. Staffa senior girls met
Cromarty in the next game, losing
out 2 to 16. Marie Kerslake pitched
for the winners with Jean Dow
catching, and Valerie Glanville
and Teresa Miller, divided the
Staffa pitching with Karen Mach-
an behind the plate.
Then Hibbert bantam girls took
on a pick-up team of ladies, and'
won 26-13.
Over the supper hour Hibbert
South bantam boys, aided by .
Andrew Laing's grand slam
homer, defeated Hibbert North
21.10: Andrew Laing started
nitching for the winners and was
relieved- in the sixth by John
Hunt. Bill McPhail was catcher.
For Staffa, Terry Templeman
started with Dennis Parsons
taking over part way through. Jim
Scott canght!
Following this, Mitchell's BP's
slow pitch team defeated Mitchell,
centennial team 16.7. In the final
•game the local junior men with
Ken Harries pitching were de-
feated by Fullarton Juveniles 9-2.
The ball games weren't the
,only attraction at the park on
Saturday afternoon. Pork chops,
barbecued to perfection under the
watchful eye of Russell Miller,
Jack Butsori, Eldon Allen, and
their families, were served along
with salads, cake and icecream tb
about 500 people:
Sunday night at the park.
Mitchell Grizzlies 'and the Twin
City Bombers met in a game• of
slow pitch with the Bombers
winning 18-15.
Personals
The unveiling of the Ritchie
memorial plaque will take place in
Cromarty church next Sunday at
the eleven o'clock service. Guests
will be welcome and lunch will be
provided following the service.

weekend, winning their first two
games. 6-3 over Hickson Midgets
and 4-1 over. Winthrop Midgets
on Sunday. They lost their game
on Monday against i3rodhagen
Midgets 6-1. Brad Marsden did
all the pitching. fo,r Staffa., Lloyd
Cameron was their coach.
Miss Lee Miller has completed
her first year in nursing at
Woodstock and is holidaying with
