The money will be used to help purchase a second car for the VON in Huron. Secretary Mary Parsons read an obituary of George Thomson Senior who was born 1802.1879, the original ancestor 'who came from Blantyre, Scotland. A com- mittee was appointed to draw up a family tree for next years' picnic. Officers for next years' picnic are: President- Norm Stonlake; Vice-President- Cecil Pepper, Secretary-Treasurer- Mary Par- sons; Assistant Secretary- Audrey and Bert Vorstenbosch, Table Committee- Dorothy and Bill Chase. Bob and Glenda Cornish ably conducted sports. Winners were - childrens treasure hunt - Debbie Priestap, Brad Chase: Life saver rely- Tania Cornish's Team. A candy and peanut scramble was enjoyed by all the children. Lady with most articles in purse- Dorothy Cornish; ladies nail- driving contest- Pearl. It was decided to hold the picnic next year on the third Sunday of July at the Harbour Park in Goderich. WRIGHT REUNION Forty descendents of the Wright Family attended the an- nual Wright Reunion on Sunday, July 13th at the. Kirkton , Woodham Community Centre. A special welcome was given to Mr. and Mrs. Clem Geisler, Midland, Texas, Mr.' and Mrs. Joe Horne Leamington and Mr. and Mrs. Murray Wright from Kingsville. The twentieth Reunion will be held at the Kirkton - Woodham Community Centre, the second Sunday in July 1976, with Lorne Ross as President and Mrs. Orland Reickert, Hensall as sec- retary. Parker - Keyes Picnic The Parker-Keyes picnic was held at Riverview Park, Exeter on Rev. Bruce and Mrs. Pierce of Crediton and Leile Finkbeiner of Exeter visited with Hugo Schenk. On Sunday Leslie Mitchell of Crediton visited his mother Mrs. - Louise Mitchell. Shirley Prouty of Exeter and Amy and Greta Lammie visited with Vera Lammie. Jim and Hazel McNaughton, Brucefield visited the latter's mother Mrs. Ada Smillie. (Intended for Last Week) A Hay township area farmer, Ross Corbett had the misfortune to fall while forking hay in his barn on Friday, fracturing his left arm at the elbow. He was attended by Dr. J. C. Goddard at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, where his arm was placcdin a cast. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy are holidaying at their cottage near Ripley. Corbett attended a trousseau tea in New Market in honour of Miss Kathy' Vickers, niece of Mrs. Horton and Mrs. McNaughton. Mr. Brister accompanied her daughters Karolyne and Gillian on the piano. They sang several songs. Guides honour Mrs. Duffy Friends and associates pre- sented Mrs. T. Duffy with a token gift in appreciation for her work as Treasurer and Public Relations Director for • Ausable District of Girl Guides of Canada, at a tea at the home of Mrs. R. Venner. Mrs. Eric Luther, captain, reported that the booth at Hensall Spring Fair was a financial success and thanked convpnors Mrs. Doug Mann and /Mrs. George Spiels. Mrs. Mann offered to be the historian for the district. Many clippings, records and snap shots were turned over to her. Mrs. F. Giffin, District Commissioner reported that in Hensall two Brownie leaders, one Guide leader, a treasurer and a Badge Secretary, are required for operations in the Fall. Any interested ladies may contact Mrs. Giffin in Exeter or Mrs. Luther in Hensall. ' Mr. and Mrs. Earl Campbell and Mrs. George Armstrong were in Mitchell this week attending the thirty-fifth wedding anniver- sary of their nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Coleman.. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn returned home from a pleasant holiday at Pt.Farms Provincial Park and at Sauble Falls. Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Mrs, Malcom Dougall presided at the organ and accompanied the choir in the anthem "Hold Thou my Hand". Service next Sunday will be at Hensall United Church at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev, Don Beck and will continue during August. Service will resume in Carmel Church the first Sunday in September 'at 9 a.m. when Rally Day Service will be held. Mr. and Mrs. George Dowson returned from a trip through Western Canada as far as' Vancouver and while there visited George Taylor. Mrs. Jim Taylor and daughter, Miss Pamela Taylor of Kitchener returned home from a holiday inQuebec. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Holland, Gwen and Michael of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Corbett and Wayne were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sangster and Bradley this week. The RecreationCommittee of Hay Township met on Tuesday night in the Township Hall Zurich to discuss the possibility of leasing the Agriculture Grounds. It was recommended an agree- ment be drawn up with the Council. Miss Sylvia Merrier has ..been enjoying her summer vacation this week. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Keyes were in Winnipeg last week attending the wedding of their nice and visited relatives at Pilot , (Wound, Manitoba. Correspondent Hilda M. Anna, Marie Duffy attended Guide Camp Keewadin recently. ' The Duffy family expect to leave Hensall in mid August and will take up residency in Winnipeg. Rev. G. A. Anderson was in charge of the service in St. Paula Anglican Church. The text of the sermon was from Acts 12 vs 1 and 2. Guest soloist, Mr. Harry Horton, sang"Drifting" and "He Lifted Me" accompanied by Mrs. F. Forrest on the organ. Mr. and Mrs. Ken McLean returned from holidaying in the eastern provinces and the eastern United States. SEAFORTH V 4-H The fifth ' meeting of the Seaforth V Gardening Green Thumbs was' held at the home of Jackie and Joanne Van Doornik on July 28th. The meeting opened with the 4-If pledge followed by a delicious picnic buffet. T he roll call - Bring in two vegetables of any one kind was answered by ten members. After a boun- teous dinner, the business was conducted. President, Tony Shulman welcomed all those attending. The Secretary- Treasurer, Helen Roberts, read the minutes and dealt with 'the correspondence. Sports committee were John and Marilyn Pym, Lois Worrier Beverly Shulman. Following the business an afternoon of visiting- and sports was enjoyed by all Sports; Marcia Shulman won the mystery box. Children under five, Janet and David Eagleson, Jes- sica Mennen. Boys and girls seven to ten, Lois-Anne Shulman, Ken Worner Girls, Eleven to fourteen, Linda Roberts, Brenda Shulman. Bal- loon contest, Mary Simmons, Bradley Shulman. "Her great-grandfather, William. E. H. Essery was the oldest". Earl and Oga Hunter of Whitby travelled the furthest distance. Mrs, Hubert Hunter had the closest birthday. There was a candy scramble for the children. It was decided to have next year's picnic the last Sunday in June, at 4ir the same place and time. Thomson Reunion • The thirty-sixth Thomson re- union was held Sunday afternoon at Harbour Park Goderich with over 40 in attendance. After is very delicious smorgasbord din- ner the President, Dorothy Case presided for a short meeting. McGuckin in Trinity United Church, Newmarket. A humorous mock wedding was presented after which they were presented with the anniver- sary cake and many other gifts.
