Slaforth golfer
qualify for open

Three young Seaforth . golfers
have qualified to play in the
Ontario Junior Golf Champloe-
ship. The three boys are Cant
Doig, 16, Brian Nigh, 15 and
Steve Bennett, 11.
Cam shot 70 in qualifying
rounds held at the Seaforth Golf
and Country Club. He lost in
playoffs to Danny Maue of
Kitchener. Brian shot 74 and
Gorrie downed Winthrop
Bantams by a 15 to 10 score in
Gorrie. The first inning hurt
Winthrop the most for Gorrie
scored 9 runs. DAvid Burns and
Bill Johnson of Gorrie each scored
3 runs apiece. Once again Doug
Mitchell led Winthrop in scoring
for he scored 4 of the 10 Winthrop
runs. The score of each inning is
as follows.
1st inning 9 - 0 Gorrie; 2nd.
inning 9 - 2 Gorrie; 3rd. inning 10
- 6 Gorrie; 4th inning 12-9 Gorrie;
The early Ladies Industrial
Softball game on July 8 saw Jane
McNaughton's team give Carol
Lobb's team her second defeat of
the year. The, score was
McNaughton's team 27, Lobb's
team 15. Rosemary Bisback had 2
h ome runs for McNaughton's
team.
Hitting for Lobb's team was
Shirley Van Loon with a home run
and Carol Lobb with a home run.
McNaughton's team held Lobb's

Steve, who qualified at NOW
Dundee, shot 75 and finished ,
fourth there.

close the gap just a little too late.
If they had played the seventh
inning they might have won. John
Blanchard- pitched the whole
game and was given a loss. This
was John's first loss in four
appearances. Gerry Berringer hit
his 3rd homerun of the year in the
second inning. H e also tripled in
the 3rd inning. With those 2 hits,
he brought in 5 runs. One of them
he scored himself.

Volland of Gederieh was third. Fourth went to Miss
Direct Baker owned by Lorne Ty ndall and driven by
Frank MacDonald, both of Clinton. Out of the money
was Excel Mac owned by Roy Meriam and driven by
Jack M eriam both of Goderich.
Third in the second race was Janet Express owned
and driven by William German of Clinton, Fourth
went of Pen Dins Sob owned and driven by Bruce
Volland.
Second in the third race was Single Johnnie owned
and driven by Johnny lvfeir of Seaforth. Fourth was
Scott's G. owned by Edith Semis, Goderich. Out of
the money was Timberina Hy owned by Arnold Doak
of Goderich and driven by Jack Meriam, as was
Rusty's Charm owned by John Cox, Wingham and
driven by Ron Williamson, Seaforth.
Third in the fourth race was Kerr's Boy owned by,
Vicky and Shelly Horner of Brucefield and driven by
Randy McLean.
Fourth was Cromarty Lass owned and driven by
