Old garage burns
Firemen were hauled out of bed
early Monday morning to fight a
fire in Egmondville.
The fire started, it is believed,
in an old mattress in the Stewart
Butt's garage.
One of Mr. Butt's daug hters
woke up about 3 a.m. and noticed
the fire and woke up other
members of the family.
The garage was old and in the
process of being torn down.
A fireman said there was no
chance, for them to save the
building so they just tried to
protect an adjacent building that
housed several horses.
A fire truck and tanker were at
the scene and the fire was put out
about an hour later with little
damage occurring except to the
frame building which burnt to the
ground.

Personals
Mr. and Mrs. W.A.Reid of
Sault Ste Marie are spending
most of July with Mrs. Geo. Reid
and visiting friends and relatives
in the area.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Whittaker

parents, mr, and Mrs. Geo.

fishing in the Powassan area.
Miss Evelyn Chessell of Mitchell
is spending a few days with them.
Mr. and- Mrs. Robt. Reid and
family of Wallaceburg are
spending the summer at their
farm home.
Someone suggested the
exhibitors stay open in the
evening. Two-thirds of the
exhibitors have hydro, but
traditionally the match has been
held during the day.
This was discussed at an OPA
executive meeting where it was
decided the international plowing
match and farm machinery show
would remain closed in the
evenings.
The OPA organizers fearthat if
the show was open in the night,
many would "come in the
evenings, and then the major
events and the plowing which
occurs in the daytime would draw
smaller crowds.
Don Pullen , Huron County
agricultural representative and
secretary for the local executive
for the 1978 plowing match told
the audience in the Central Huron
Secondary School Cafeteria that
the executive looked good and
Huron County was noted for
enthusiastic people who could
make the match a success.
The last international plowing
