Becoming your "true self" was
the topic of discussion led by Mrs.
Nancy Flynn of the Goderich
BOlial Community at the Com-
mercial Hotel in Seaforth last
Thursday.
Feeling oneself becoming the
best of what one can potentially
be, she said, constitutes the
highest joy. "It promotes a sepse
of self-worth and . when you're
happy with yourself and accept
yourself, you can accept other
people." The Baha' i Faith teach-
es that the highest expression of
the self is servitude, adn equates
word of all kinds performed in a
spirit of service with worship.
Recognizing this, work and 3vor-
ship takes on a whole new
dimension. Becoming one's true
self, then, ' is the process of
developing basic capacities and
dedicating them to the service of
humanity.
The group further discussed
the ways of releasing this potent-
ial 'enabling the individual to
transform.
These discussions are held
bi-monthly in Seaforth.

TGHE GIRLS IN THE BAND — The SDHS girls
Trumpet Band led the Centennial Parade last
SatUrclay, under the direction of George Hildebrand.
One of the drummers looked the other way as the
photographer snapped, but you can still tell the girls
were in fine form. '(Staff Photo)
Kilbarchan Notes
(By Mabel
Each Thursday a group of High
School girls come and sing and
play familiar songs, hymns, etc.
Those taking part are June
Williamson, Wilton, Mary Ellen
Knight, Brussels, Jane Leeming,
Walton, Jeannette Vanderveen,
Brussels and Pat McDonald,
Brussels.
As accompaniments they use
piano, guitar, ukelele and piano
accordian.
Centennial visitors with Miss
Turnbull were Mrs. Mary
Chesney, Toronto, Mrs. Mary
Pryde, Exeter, Dr. and Mrs.
Howard H. Kerr, Toronto, Mr.
Herman Speers, Toronto, Mr.
Leslie Kerr, Toronto.
While visiting S.P.S. I chatted
with Michael Bechely, Oxford
Co., Jim Wallace, Beaverton,
Neil Broadfoot, Peterborough,
Mrs. Banbury (nee Kathleen
Burrows) Mr. and Mr.s Jack
Stevens, London and Miss Gertie
Crich, Toronto.
The pace has slackened and we
are gradually getting back to
normal. It was a great reunion.
I enjoyed visiting with many
local people whom I hadn't seen
for a long time. The general spirit
of the whole reunion was
wonderful. The committee in
Turnbull)
charge deserved great praise for
their planning and carrying out
the program.
I was sorry to miss some items
but I was able to take in events of
my choice with the help of kind
friends and members of my
family. It was all very enjoyable. I
saw that marvellous parade.
Spent an evening on Main Street
seeing the splendid efforts of our
local merchants in dressing their
windows for display. I'd like to
mention Frank Phillips' display of
war time pictures which
represented so many local
families. It was great . I viewed
the Van Egmond House which is
shaping up beautifully. This
community should . be proud to
have such an interesting spot so
near the town. Visitors will find it
very interesting. The committee
plan on sjx years to complete it.
They are doing a wonderful 'job.
One room is completely
furnished. Others will follow
toward completion as funds and
time allows. All should visit it in
the making to underst and the
effort put forth.
Mrs. Liza Scott celebrated her
birthday this week. She is 94.
Congratulations. Friends called to
wish her well.
