GIVING BIRTH TO A NEW SPORT — Seaforth
residents watched the beginnings of a new
recreational sport Tuesday. In the picture George
Kreutzwiser of Seaforth, president of the 4-wheel
drive club, drove his 3/4 ton Chev truck to second
place in the truck pull. He lost to HarveyHolland in a
pull off. Mr. Kreutzwiser said the club which has
about a dozen members, is mainly a family
recreational sport which include activities like trail
rides and picnics. The Club which was organized this
spring is available for volunteer emergency work
when approached by local authorities, 'he said.

honouring SeafOrth'S Coritennial
year. Seaford' District
School field was alive with ce1004
representing teams fr9M
„ ayfietd, St. Columban, Clinton,
Exeter, Seaforth, Waterton, ,
Kitchener and Waterloo, .he
boys were all in the tinder 12
years age group and the manners
and discipline shown were a
credit to their communities.
The first four games decided
which teams. would go on to try
for the Consolation and
Championship events. The low
close scores represent good effort
on the part of all teams. They
were St. Columban 3/ Clinton 2,
Seaforth 3/ Exeter 2, Kitchener
4/Walkerton 1, Waterloo
3/ Bayfield 0. Clinton then vied
with Walkerton for a chance to
enter the Consolation Final,
beating them with a 6 - 2 score.
Exeter, also working hard, shut
out Bayfield 4 0. This led Clinton
and Exeter to an exciting
Consolation Final event later in
the day when Clinton won by a 3 -
1 score.
AU that remained to be decided
were , the entries into the
Championship Final event. St.
Columban took care of this by
winning over Kitchener 3 -2 in a
_classic well fought soccer game,
both teams exhibiting exemplary
sportsmanship. Then Seaforth
met (their) Waterloo in a very
close game which was tied 1 - 1 at
the end of regulation time, the
outcome finally decided on
penalty shots with Waterloo
coming out on top, 3 - 2. Again
the display of good
sportsmanship was outstanding.
TheChampionship Final saw St.
Columban and Waterloo
engaging in a very exciting game
with St. Columban's calibre of
play and hustle sending the boys
to a 2 - 0 victory. Congratulations
to Joe Visser and team!

Seaforth loses out
on Ontario Cup
On Sunday, July 6 spectators at
the Seaforth High School watched
a very close game of soccer when
the Niagara Falls Optimists
defeated Seaforth Continentals to
a tune of 3-2 in the second round
of the Ontario Cup Pee Wee
division.
The first goal of the game went
to Niagara's #7 Barry Blackman.
Seaforth then tied it up by #11
Stephen Underwood. Niagara
Falls got their second goal and a
clincher by #11 Richard Petay and
#13 Roger Valpato before #9
Johnny Nielson could come up
with the second goal for Seaforth.
The clock ran out before
Seaforth could get the tieing goal.
The Continentals are now out of
the running for the Ontario Cup.
The Continentals are grateful for
the crowd of spectators and hope
they continue to come out to their
games.
