Karl Schue-ssler officiated at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church Sunday
morning as Pastor Horst and
family are on their vacation. He
preached on the parable on the
Sewer and the Seed.
He also stressed that God
himself plants the seed of His
Word into our despairing and
sorrowful hearts ,and that despite
the tragedy over the loss of two of
the district's children in the last
week, God's word continues to
strengthen and uphold our weary
hearts.
He said God's word will not
return empiry. God will harvest a
rich bountnnfor His word and will
reap a harvest of hope and
comfort. "

Albert Bauer whose funeral was
held in St. Peter's Lutheran
Church on Thursday. There were
also two baskets of flowers from
the late Louise Murray whose
funeral was held on Saturday
morning. Sincere sympathy of the.

in Seaforth Community Hospital.

home from Seaforth Hospital.
Mrs. Michael Connolly and
Mrs. Clara Siebert, both of
Watburg, accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Lavern Wolfe to visit Mrs.
Harry Tait, Stratford.
Mr. Ed. Byers is a patient in
General Hospital. Stratford and
has unnergone surgery.
Mr. and Mts. Rob Brady,
Kitchener. were Sunday guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ahrens,
Marlyn and Steven. They also
called on Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Ahrens.
Mr.Ed. Ahrens celebrated his
89th birthday on Tuesday.
The friends and relatives of
little Jeffery Robinson will be
pleased to hear he has returned
home from Seaforth Community
Hospital with the cast on his foot.
Pastor Calvin Gilk joined his
wife and daughters Susan.
Brenda and Carol for the weekend
who had been with Mr. and Mrs.
August Scherbarth and Mn and
Mrs. Charles Scherbarth and
family for the past two weeks on
their vacation. They all attended
the Scherbarth Reunion on
Sunday held at the Brodhagen
Community Center. They
returned to their home in
Warrington, Pa. on Monday.

visiting with Mrs. Thelma
Schlegel and Mr. and Mrs. John
Hinz in Kitchener on Friday.

undergone surgery,

Cromarty residents were hop-
ing for rain on Monday they got
more than they bargained for.
East of the village several fields
of corn were stripped by hail and
a barn on the Hubert-Usbarne
boundary, belonging to Jim Gard
iner was destroyed by lightening.
Lightning also struck at the
Gordon Laing home doing some
damage. Properties west of the
village received wind and heavy
rain, flattening grain uvp , but
no hail was reported.
Grade eight students who
graduated from Upper Thames
School in Mitchell include Jill
Herb um, Marie Kerslake.
Murray Laing, Bruce Norris,
Valerie Wattasne Charles Ross ,
Bill Hulley. Ken Upshall, Roy
Johna, from Cromarty.
Womezis' Knalonary Meet
The Cromarty Women's Mis-
sionary Society met at the home
of Mrs. Calder McKaig on
Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Jeffer-
son presided and opened the
meeting with a reading, Christ's
Friendship, followed by prayer.
The scripture. Hebrews 11:1-16,
was read in unison.
The topic, Ministering to the Ill,
was taken by Mrs. R. J. Scott.
Mrs. T. L. Scott read the minutes
and reported an the trip to
Toronto which several of the
members had taken. Mrs. C.
McKaig gave the treasurer's
report and received the offering.
Mrs. Lamond was in charge of
the study period on Strangers in
the Camp. Hymn 580 was read in
unison as a prayer. As a special
number each member named an
Indian tribe and gave its location.
Action At Cromart Park
Biff Jarvis took off his clerical
collar and donned a tee shirt on
Saturday night to pitch 'for
Cromarty men's softball team
when they defeated Staffa in the
first gameof the mason. Catcher
for the Cromarty team was Hugh
Scott, and Lloyd Cameron pitched
for Staffa with Reg. Chappel
behind the plate.
Sunday night saw the more
experienced Twin City Bombers
defeat Dublin Overs in a lop-sided
game of slow pitch.

Aid Centennial Committee
A social hour was held follow-
ing the church service on Sunday
morning. The centennial com-
mittee served a buffet lunch of
barbecued hot dogs, and orange'
and lemon drink with the profit
going toward the centennial
project.
Coleman Family Has Picnic
On Sunday afternoon, twenty-
nine descendents of Robert
Coleman gathered for a picnic at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Laing. Present were Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Diechert, Zurich, Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Coleman,
Cromarty, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Coleman and grandson, Kevin,
Seaforth; Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Diechert, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Caldwell, Clinton, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Caldwell, Brucefield, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Laing, Cromarty
