Sometime in the winter of 1946
Mrs. Beatrice Green, who at tkat
time was. District Deputy Grand
Matt* of District No. 5,, and Mr.
and Mrs. p John Ferguson
gathered together a gthyp
interested ' and enthusiastic
people, in Seaforth and from this
group•our Seaforth Chapter came
into being. •
On Friday, April 26, 1946 a
meeting was called in Cardno's
Hall at 3:30: p.m. for the purpose
of Instituting Seaforth ;Chapter
No. 233, Order "of the' Eastern
Star. Mrs.Dorts Wanless, Worthy
Grand Matron and Jack Edgar,
Associate Grand' ,Patron of the
Grand Chapter of Ontario
presided at that- meeting and the
Grand officer's filled the offices
that day to initiate the charter
members.
The following were charter

Commercial Hotel the meeting
reopened at 8 p.m. with Mr. and
Mrs. • John Ferguson and the
officers of Exeter Chapter No. 222

performing the opening and
closing ceremony.

InDecember 1946 • a meeting
was held for the purpose of
consittuting Seaforth Cahpter.
Miss Helen Ross, Worthy Grand
Matron and Jack Edgar, Worth
Grand Patron presided with their
Grand Officers filling the
stations. It was at this meeting
the Seaforth officers were
installed,.
The Chapter meetings were at
first held in the Orange Lodge
rooms; but on January 15, 1948
the Chapter meetings were
moved to the HOOF Hall. In
November 1949 fire damaged this
hall and we returned •• to the
Orange Hall holding our meetings
there Until May' 1950 when we
were able to return 'to the 100F
Hall. In January 1970 our Chapter
moved its meetings to St.
'Maths /Parish 1411 . where
meetings are now held.

- On May 1st, 1971 Seaforth
Chapter' celebrated its 25th
birthday. A reception and dinner
was held' in St Thomas Parish
Hail with the charter embers as
-guests of honour, They were
presented with corsages, Charter
pins and certificates.

At the May 15th, .1975 meeting
Seaforth Chapter was honoured
when Mrs, Sheila Anderson,
Worthy Grand Matron of the
Grand Chapter of Ontario
apppinted Mrs. Marjory
Montgomery, Grand repre-
sentative of Quebec in Ontario.
Since the Order of thel Eastern
Staris a benevolent organization,
over the past 29 years Seaforth
Chapter has helped those in our
own community in times of
trouble, as well sa giving to many
worthy' causes - the Blind,
Crippled Children, Retarded Northsid United, about 1870.
Children; Cancer Research, etc.
The Seafor ethodist Church, now
