Oke., • smitten dictum.- ine second, Scott Memorial Hospital • is now the Seaforth Manor Nursing Home. Our present day Seaforth Community Hospital is the third. Anniversary On our 40th Anniversary in 1973 eleven past presidents attended our June dinner. Mrs, W.C.Sproat and Mrs.A. Gropp (Georgine Smith) were unable to attend. , Our gift ,shop was started during the presidency of Miss G. Thompson. The Auxiliary operates the Gift Shop in the front lobby of the Seaforth Hospital. A Tuck Cart is circulatqd through the hospital for the convenience of the patients every Tuesday and Friday. Candy Striper& The Junior Volunteers - "Candy Strippers" are sponsored by the Auxiliary. These young people are a pleasure to work with and they should be proud of The list of articles is endless, over the years of auxiliary fund raising. Kindergarten tours of our Hospital were initiated during the Presidency of Mrs. Gordon Beuttenmiller. This project is one of the best public relations ideas ever started by the auxiliary. It started with the Seaforth Public School and we now have children from St. Columban School; St. Patrick in Dublin; • St. James' Separate Sehool and Huron Centennial in Brucefield, as well. District Chairman The Auxiliaries of Ontario are each in designated districts, Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary is in District Oke is, the District Chairman. Mrs. Oke is the first member in our Auxiliary 'to ever obtain this position. All the auxiliaries attend conferences twice a year to exchange ideas and learn from each other how to solve problems and unite volunteer workers. During our Centennial year in Seaforth under the presidency of Mrs. L. J. Teatero the auxiliary is applying to the Ontario Hospital Association for two Provincial Life members.This is our Centennial Project and has never been attained before. Since 1933 the Auxiliary has grown from a group of 5 to 7, to its present day membership of 90. We have come a long way both in fund raising and activity. From the original Gingham Dances and bandage wrapping days to Penny Sales, Fall Fair projets, conventions in Toronto with an attendance of 900 women, bursaries and operating room tables and silver baby cups to the first born of the New Year. Beginning with Mrs. Chas. Holmes to its present day executive, many hours ikAf unselfish, unpaid and dedicated time has been given to make the Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary one of the largest' and hard working organizations in Seaforth. We would like to wish Seaforth "The Friendly Town" a Happy Birthday and more prosperous years in the future. C. Bennett; 1973-75 Mrs. L. J. Teatero. Miss Ada Reid is our oldest living 'charter member of the Auxiliary_,. • There have been three hospitals since the inception of the Auxiliary. The first was in the Victoria Street apartments now rooms; operating room light; croupettes; 3 in one emergency stretchers; rocking chair for nursery; toys, high chair; bird respirator machine; baby tenda; a harness; two folding chairs for our nursery; projector and screen for our -hospital board room; 3 portable blood pressure units; Isolette and television sets. The Seaforth Hospital Auxiliary was chartered and organized in 1933, with Mrs. Chas, Holmes asp the first president. Our auxiliary is now forty-two years -old and as active now , as in its inception. Shanahan; 1937 - 40 Mrs. , Sproat; 1940-41 Mrs. Merton Reid; 1941 - 44 Mrs. D. H. Wilson; 1944-46 Mrs. Frank Kling; 1946-48 Miss Alice Reid; 1948-51 Miss Dorothy Parke; 1951 - 53 Mrs. Alvin Sillery; 1953-55 Mrs. H.E.Smith; 1955-57 Mrs. E.A.McMaster; 1957-59 Mrs, Harold Whyte; 1959-61 Mrs.Elmer Larone; 1961-63 Mts. M. W. Stapleton; 1963-65 Mrs. Fred Cosford;1965-67 Miss Gladys Thompson; 1967-69 Mrs. Orville Oke; 1969-71 Mrs. Gordon Beuttenmiller; 1971-73 Mrs. W. themselves for the time and care given by each and every one of them. The Candy Strippers were started when Mrs. Orville Oke was president. The Auxiliary has purchased many extra pieces of equipment for use in the hospital, that otherwise would not be in use today, such as: beds for patients' THE EXPOSITOR AFTER 1895 — The third location of the-Huron Expositor office is its present one arid not much has changed, outside at least.
