Whitney Funeral Home to' Ross
W. Ribey of Acton. The business
now will be known as the
Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home.
Mr. Whitney will continue the
furniture business.
"I really haven't completely,
retired" Mr. Whitney explained
and added he would continue to
assist Mr. Ribey.
It was in August 1943 when Mr.
Whitney came' to Seaforth and
purchased the business of the late
S.J.Holmes and Son.

her 82 birthday on Tuesday, June

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Riehl from
Seaforth attended the birthday
party held in Mrs. .Elligson's
honolir. Mr. Edward Scherbarth
Sr. was unable to attend as both
he and his wife Mrs. Scherbarth
are in Seiforth Hospital.
Mrs. Mabel. Ragerson,
Mitchell is staying with her.
daughter Mrs. Ken Elligson and

while Mr. Elligson is in .the

Born in the Milverton area Mi.
Whitney began his' career as a
funeral director with the late
Robert McMane • in Milverton.
Later he was associated with N. J'.
Boyd in Mitchell for several years
and it was from Mitchell that he
came to Seforth.
During the- more that} 30
years he has beenip Seaforth. Mr.
Whitney has taken an active part
in the community. He is a ,past
president of the Seaforth Lions
Club and has ,,served in various
societies in Northside nited
Church.

Mrs. Jefferson, Mrs. Douglas and
Mrs. Grace Scott. Eight mem-
bers answered the roll call with a
verse' on friendship. Mrs. Thos„
Scott read the minutes of the May
meeting. ".

W, M.S. of Carmel Church, Hen-

The topic, Public Health Pro-
ject, 'was taken by Mrs. Jim
Miller. Current events were given
by everyone. Following' Hymn

shocked' on Saturday evening to
hear of, the death 'of . Frank
Hamilton in a car accident in the
Clinton area. Sympathy is
extended to his wife, Loreen and' '
other. relatives.
Church services were cancelled
on Sunday morning' and" a large

where he has• been located for
seven years. Mrs. Ribey who
teaches in 'Acton and their
daughter Andrea will come to
Seaforth as • soon as -school .is
finished.
, Mr. Ribey, who was active in
service club work,, said he and
Mrs. Ribey are looking forward to
their associations in Seaforth.

Huron County will` receive
$30,000 in community planning
study grants to help offset the
cost of producing official plans, for
local municipalities.
County planning diiector Gary
Davidson , said he has been
advised by , 'the ministry of
housing that allocation of the
money has been approved.
The money will help cover the
•costs of developing -plans for
Grey, Colborne and Goderich
townships, • the villageS of
Brussels and Zurich, and for
Vanastra, the former 'C ian
Forces base near Clinton.
Mr. Davidson said $5,000 will
be sent to eat of thesix
municipalities (Vai(astra's will go.

council), who are then expected to
forward the funds to the county.
The Huron County planning
