The Lions Club, just organized this spring, held the auction of ,donated articles as a fund raising project. Mitchell - Johnny Megens and. at St. Brigets Church in Logan were Nico and Carin Peeters. Family Reunion The Eckert family reunion was held at. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Eckerts, R.R.#2, Hepworth. Mass was celebrated at Sauble Beach by a visiting priest and offered for the living and deceased mem bers of the Eckert family,' requested by. Jerry and Marie Eckert. A great time was enjoyed by all. A shower was held for Linda Beddard from Seaforth on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brown, Dublin. Mr. and Mrs. Keith McCarthy, Mr. and Mrs. Terry McCarthy, Mrs. Lloyd McCarthy also Mrs. D.P. Monaghan were in Killaloe, Ontario, attending the wedding of Miss Joan Sullivan to Doctor Arthur. V. Hanky of Toronto. Visiting over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ruston' were Mrs. Ruston's sister Mr. and Mrs. James" Regan and Corey from Keene. Also Mrs. Jean O'Neal from Fullarton visited Mrs. Ruston this past week. Mrs. Frank Van Bergen. and Linda have left on a three weeks holiday to Holland to visit Mrs. Van ' Bergen's mother. Mrs. Verna Brook spent a day with Mrs. Lawrence Ruston this past week. MrS. Dan Costello spent a few days in London with her daughter and son-in-law and Debbie Mr. and Mrs. Peter Groshok. MrS. Jean Dill visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Frost in St.Thomas also Mr. and Mrs. Dori Warren in London. Mrs. Jean Dill attended the funeral of her nephew Robert Dill inSt. Marys on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ruston attended the funeral of Mrs. Florence Regan on Saturday at Kenicott. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beisel of Palmerston have settled in the apartment of Mr. Russell Kramp recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brown and family. • Mr. Dan O'Rourke Sr. is a patient in Stratford General Hospital. Mr. Benny Benniger is a patient in Seaforth COmmunity Hospital from the result of a traffic accident on Saturday night and is now imroving. Building contractors from Wingham have the construction of a new home for Miss Kay Stapleton on'Mill St. underway. N. & M. Contractors of Dublin have 'completed the cement work fOr a double garage and driveway on Ann Street. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Feeney on the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bader of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gillian of Troy , Michigan. Mr. Tom Feeney of London visited of the weekend with his brothers Louis and Elmer Feeney. Mrs. Frank Evans spent the past week in London visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cleary, Karen and Kevin. Mrs. Rose Stapleton spent a few days in London visiting with her sister, Mrs. Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Byers of Seaforth visited on Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Lou Maloney. St Columban Correspondent Vincent Lane ' The monthly meeting of the Catholic Women's League was held in the parish hall with twenty members present. The president, Mrs. Len O'Rourke presided and opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Lou O'Reilly read Ole minutes. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Roy Swart. The altars are being cared for in June by Mrs. Ferg. Feeney and girls. Mrs: Jim Maloney will visit the sick. Mrs. Tom Kale read the correspondence. It was decided to send a donation to tire television program - "The Church Today". Mrs. Roy Swart gave a very interesting report of the Conven- ' tion held in Windsor. A Mass intention was presented to Mrs. Helen McGrath who is now ' residing in Dublin. The mystery prize,' donated by Mrs. Theo Melatly, was won by Mrs. Joseph O'Reilly. Following the meeting a sale of plants took place with Mrs. Ron Ryan as auctioneer. Lunch followed and a social hour was spent. Correspondent • V. J. Lane Joe Visser's Mosquitoes had ' another decisive yvin Friday eve defeating Exeter 9-0. Exeter put up a very good game but had trouble penetrating the defence". Kevin Coyne was again the big gun at centre and got lots of assistance from the wings to score 6 pts. Hickneil D. Murray, Nyland 1 each. Dr. Underwood's Seaforth Squad promises to put an end to all these runaway scores when they play here Thursday 7 p.m. June 12th. This should be a good one. Vern Steinman's Bantams lost another close one to Brantford Sunday 2-1 in what was described as fast clean anekcexciting affair. Monday, June 9th, they played Waterloo here but the more experienced and longer established club had little trouble beating them 5 - 0. Bill Downey in goal stood up well. Tues. at 7 Many delegations visited Hibbert council at their regular meeting including requests for rezoning of property in the village of Staffa and Dick Carey of the Canadian National Railways who helped council regarding the installation of "wigwags" at the Fullarton Hibbert Boundary Crossing. A full delegation from the Village of Cromarty asked council to solve the dust problem. Council promised to look into the possibility of hard surfacing a section of the Concession to relieve the situation. A petition to allow the building on, a lot smaller than is required by the zoning, by-law was referred to the appeals meeting to be held ,...June 23rd. The Hibbert Athletic Associatioa representatives John and Alex Scott and Rodger Dow requested that the building permit be issued as soon as possible so that construction might proceed on the new refreshment and washroom facilities in the Park. Council agreed to this but requested a septic system approval be obtained from the Health Unit before any construction was done in this sector. ' A reduction of assessment was given to Robert Gardiner for the removal of a house from Lot 8, Con. 11. Henry Uderstadt, O.L.S. Engineer of Orangeville was appointed to bring in a report on repairs and improvements to the Burns Drain, The Reeve ' and Clerk were P.M. Roy Swart's' Pee Wees will play Seaforth here, this could be a close one, as Seaforth are highly rated in this group. Sorry - last week I misnamed Joe Vissers group as Pee Wees. Beans Late The wet cooler weather has delayed the planting of beans. Some beans in this area that were planted are well advanced now. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Bob St apleton spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Gilbert Murray. Mrs. Mary Moylan, Mrs. Bill Murphy, Karen and Kevin were in St. Thomas Sunday l, visiting Miss Catherine Moylan. Mrs. Marchard of Windsor spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Melady have returned after spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Butters, Edmonton. Mr. and Mrs'. Ferg. Melady of Belle River visited with Mrs. Marie Melady here recently. Rev. Fr. St apleton , Owen Sound was a Saturday visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Kale and family. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jury of Scarboro spent Saturday with their relatives, Mr. and Mrs Vern Steinman. directed to attend a seminar at Fanshawe Community College on 'June. 12th on the New Building Code. Grants of $500 each, to be paid after June 15th, were approved for the Dublin Athletic & South Hibbert Athletic Associations. The Mitchell Area Fire Distric budget of $4038.76 and the Seaforth Fire Area Budget of $1664.24 were approved, and cheques for the first levy authorized. General Accounts of $72,088.25 (includes Schools 1A yearly levy) and Roads $10266.91 were approved. The Provisional by-laws on the McCurdy and Forbes Drains were given third readings and approved. Three readings were given Rating By-Law for Tile Drainage Debenture for $10,000. Council approved the changing of the regular meeting night for July from Monday 7th to Thursday 3rd.
