High school pays come and go
but those who saw t'Anuie Get
Your Gun" as presented by the
Central Huron Secondary School
will long remember the quality,
performance. ,
Most audiences • hear a few
missed cues, ldng scene changes
and other fluffs that normally mar
high school plays.
Irving Berlin's musical comedy
had been rehearsed since early
this year and one could tell.
Thursday night's performance
went without any noticeable
hitch.
The play is about a girl sharp
shooter; Annie Oakley, iivho
learns as one of her song says
`,Tot: Can't' Get a Man with a
Gun." She finally wins. her man,
Frank Butler, played 'by Dave
Thomson by losing a shotting
match.
Joanne Snell, a grade 13
student', delighted the audience
with her performance as the too
honest and eager Annie.
- Frank Butler, first meets her as
a ,gun totting hick and when he
explains his loss of the shooting
match, he said: "Anyone could
miss."
To this Annie answered, "Well,
I can't."
Miss Snell was the star of the
show with , the singing of four
solos and many more duets. The
rich tones of her voice weaved a
spell that captivated the gymna-
sium audience.
The play which was directed by
Linda McKenzie had a cast of
more than 80 students. The
assistant director was Karin
Davidson of Brucefield a seven-
teen year old grade II student
who would like to pursue a career
in the theatre after grade 13.
The colourful costumes were On
one ,of the many strengthens of
the production. Frank Butler
wore sequined trimmed shirts to
emphasize his masculine vanity
and Buffalo Bill played by Rob
Stirling, wore boots that reached,..
his hips. Another well done scene

All the members were sorry to
learn of the death Of Comrade
Frank Nolan. Comrade Frank
died during the holiday weekend.
Comrade Nolan was a veteran of
World War I and was a familiar
figure in Legion circles.

The lighting was changed to a

A few scenes showed weakness
in acting and singing, but those
moments were few: Thursday
