The worship was conducted by Dorothy Brintnell with the theme "God's Love is Over All". Mrs. Beck presented the study book. The June meeting schedule was reviewed and the meeting closed ' with prayer. A delicious lunch Was served by Bea Brister and Loretta Rileyl A slip and bloomer sale took place at the conclusion of the meeting. Womens Institute Holds May M The May eeg- Meetingtin of Hensall . Womens histsitute was Grand- mothers night and a good number of members and guests attended. Entertainment included a piano 'solo by Sue-ann Finlayson andtap dancing numbers by her sisters Sandra and Shelley. The guest speaker Was Mr. J. W. McLaren, painter illustrator, and one of the original singing group "The Dumbells" who showed slides and spoke of the early history of Benmiller. Janis Bisback was presented with a bank book for her baby daughter Victoria. The president announced that the bus trip to Elmira and Doon Village would be on June 2.3; those wishing to go please contact Mrs. Payne or Mrs. Janis 'Bisback. A gift was presented to Mrs. Beryl Elgie in appreciation of work done for the Institute, she has now moved to Exeter. Contests were won by Grace Peck, Mrs. Finlay- son, Mrs. Britton and Mrs: Wm. Smale. The June meeting will be a mystery supper for whith members will paf V1.50. You are asked to please wear your favourite or fancy hat and be at the Legion Hall by 7 p.m. • • United Church Newli Rev. Legion Ladies Auxiliary Meeting The May meeting of the Hensall Legion Ladies Auxiliary was held Tuesday evening in the Legion Hall with the president Wanda MeClinchey presiding. , The annual penny sale is being extended to June 13. The Auxiliary members are catering to, a wedding in. June. Personals Mrs. Jean Ademen and Mr. Anthony Gelderland of Ridge- town visited. Friday • with Sim Roobal and also visited with Mrs. Roobal who was a patient in South Huron Hospital. Mr, and Mrs. John Skea and David, and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Mason and Andrew spent the weekend camping in the Coiling- wood area. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hope of Thorndale visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert. Baker over the weekend and while there attended the Hartman.Marshall wedding in Zurich. Correspondent Mrs. R. Laing Cromarty Ladies Aid met at the home of the secretary, Mrs. J. Carey on Monday night with Mrs. R. Laing presiding. The meeting opened with the hymn, "For the Beauty of the Earth". Mrs. Charles Douglas gave a reading, "A Girl's Eye View of Relatives" and conducted a contest on the trade names of soaps. The devotions were' in _charge of Mrs. Carey who also gave a reading, Some Flowers Have a Message. Eight members answered the roll call with an interesting item. Answers included an English cookbook, a slide on which was printed the whole bible, a figurine, a bookmark, a magnifying lens set, an autograph book and news items. Following the business, the meeting clbsed with Hymn 1, 'That Man Hath Perfect Blessedness", and the Lord's Prayer. Women was held on Monday, .May 1st with, 15 members and one visitotiswered the roll Ball by the name of a historical woman. Mrs. J. Henderson and' Mrs. M. Broadfoot had charge of devotions. Mrs.Broadfoot opened the meeting with a poem, 'May is a wonderful month of the year'. Hymn "Day is Dying In the West" was sung with Mrs. Ham at the piano. The scripture, "Sing onto the Lord" was read by Mrs:' Henderson. Mrs. Broadfoot read —I'm proud to be a Canadian". and "Am I my brother's keeper am I" ' The offering was received and dedicated. Mrs.. Broadfoot also read a poem, "The Old Cream Seperator" and "The Pork Banell 50 years ago.". Hymn, "What a friend we have in Jesus" was sung. This part of the meeting was closed with prayet• The. business portion was chaired by the president, Mrs. Henderson who read a poem "Grand Mother". Mrs. Broadfoot 'to send sympathy cards. Mrs. Henderson -reported that the Tupperware 'Party was a real success. Mrs. M. Allan will hold another party on May 29 with all 'ladies invited. Come and spend a social everting and enjoy a cup of tea. Mrs. 'Stoll reported for the Luncheon. Serve dinner to be held at the church on Sept. 16. In the absence of Mrs. Ervin Siliery, Mrs.' Berry gave the secretary's report also the treasurer's report. June 3rd will be visitors day when Mr.paterson of Palmerston will be guest speaker of retarded children. The meeting closed with prayer in unison. Meeting President Erla Coleman pre- sided for the May meeting of the Chiselhurst U.C.W. and opened the meeting with a poem "Springtime". The roll call was answered by members. The visiting committee reported making eight calls on shut-ins in the past month. Play bingo a On Monday afternoon, some members of Unit II of Hensall United Church with Kay Mock in charge entertained the patients by playing bingo. A sing song was also enjoyed with joyce Pepper at the piano. On Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Jarvis of Exeter conducted the church service- and was assisted by Louise Mitchell 'on the piano. Mrs. Enwright of Goderich, presided. Miss -Panline Brown( migsionary on furlough from India, gave a very interesting account of her work in hospitals 'and children's homes. She also showed pictures. Mrs. Mundell , synodical president gave a few remarks, Mrs. Edith Bell and Mrs. Blanche Dougall contributed piano duets. 3 C'S BOWL Thirteen couples from Carmel, Cavan and Cromarty Presbyterian congregations .held night at Zurich Bowling Lanes on Tuesday, May 13th. High Triple winners were Gordon Lang, and Pearl James. High Singles: Pearl James, Gordon Lang and Philip James tied. Next month the 3 C's couples plan a "Family Get Together" on Sunday, Jutie 8th commencing with a "Pot Luck' Supper" at Cromarty School at 5 p.m. followed by a hall game. Anyone from the three congregations are welcome to join the group at Cromarty Church. Rev.
