HeA . Philip Walker, 40 , of Grand end who is running for the NDP nomination. Mr. Walker said the N.D.P. nomination date has not yet been set. Mr. Wallcer's family owned and operated 'Oakwood Inn and Golf Club in Grand Bend until it was sold to London interests headed by Peter Ivey last year. Mr,: Walker, who has a BA from UWO, is married and has one child. In a statement announcing his candidacy, Mr. Walker says "thirty-two• years of one party rule in Ontario has created an increasing desire for change among`' people." He cites increasing unemployment due partly to foreign domination in both the raw materials and manufacturing sectors • of the economy" and "urban crowding and rural depopulation" as some „of the problems facing the province. "The gradual but more or less continuous decay of agriculture is a particularily serious problem in Huron County", he says. Seaforth Manor Happenings Seaforth Minor residents were treated to a fine evening of music on Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:30 p.m. when a mixed senior choir under the direction of Miss Lois Legg of Clinton accompanied by Miss Louise Lovett at the piano sang a variety of numbers by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Mr. Frank Sills was master of ceremonies and by special request sang two solo numbers. The choir also obliged and sang several old time favourites with the residents joining in. Our sincere thanks to all who took part and as one of our senior residents commented "I wish they would have sang all night". Courtesy remarks were extended to the group and a social half hour followed. SHORTS FROM THE YUKON Talk about inflation. Our sympathy goes out to her family. Miss Laura Schuessler celebrated her 18th birthday and her brothers Scott, from London and Philip, Kitchener, attended and spent the weekend with their parents, Mr, and Mrs. Karl Schuessler and sisters. Mrs. Martha Eiclerneier accompanied her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rock, Detroit, to visit there with them. Mr. Wayne Ahrens-is starting a new job at the Polysar plant in Sarnia for the summer months. Mrs. Mary Dittmer celebrated her 87th birthday on Wednesday. Her sister Mrs. Louisa Hoppen- rath was spending the day with her when Mrs. Hoppenrath took ill and was rushed to Seaforth Community Hospital by ambulance. Many happy returns Mrs. Dittmer. Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Wolfe and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Wolfe were dinner guets on Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. ,Sam Wolfe, MOnkton. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hinz, Stratford, visited at the Wolfe hOme' in Brodhagen on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Buuck visited with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Buuck, Danny and Julia in Mitchell on Sunday. Mrs. Manuel Beuerman is a patient in Seaforth Community Hospital. Mr. Lorne Wolfe is a patient in the General Hospital, Stratford. Mrs. Lorne Wolfe is visiting with her mother Mrs. Hilda Ruston, Stratford, while her husband is in the hospital. Miss Laura Schuessler was one of the 35 grade 12 students that took a trip and stayed at Victoria Hotel in Quebec City and visited around Montreal on the way home. It was very enjoyable, !aura said. Former District Resident Passes Mrs. Elizabeth Phyllis O'Brien passed away in Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall on Friday , April 25th, 1975, in her 92nd year. Born in this area she was the wife of the late Charles O'Brien and resided for some years on No. 4 Highway. Survivng are Mrs. Joe (Margaret ) Lostell, Kippen; Mrs. Alma Lostell and Mr.s Robina McLeod , both of txondon; Mrs. Ben (Nettie) Tinney and Mrs. Wilmer (Ella) Dalryrhple of Exeter; twenty-three grandchildren; fifty-five great- grandchildren, and -one great gr eat granddaughter. Funeral service was held Monday, April 28th from the Hopper-Hockey Funeral Home conducted by Rev. W.D.Jarvis. Intermen in Exeter Cemetery. Anglican Church Notes The . Rev. The flowers were in memory , of the late Mrs. Margaret Aldwinkle placed by the family. Obituary LLOYD THOMPSON Lloyd Thompson of Hensall passed away suddenly on April , 22, 1975 in his 54th year. He is survived by his wife, the ' fotmer Helen Parsons and one daughter, Elizabeth, '2 brothers, Elgin of R.R.#3, Kippen, Sidney • of Stratford, and one sister Mrs. Edna Manson of London. • A private funeral service was held April 24 from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel in Hensall, with Rev, Don Beck Interment in Bayfield Cemetery. • Pallbearers were George Clifton, • Jack Peck, Ken McCowan, Lorne Thompson, Bert • Th orripson and Laird Finalyson. Mrs.Annie Cole who recently underwent surgery in St. Josep's Hospital, London is recuperating in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Soldan is a patient in South Huron Hogpital, Exeter. Mrs. Violet Northcott returned to her home last week after several days in Exeter Hospital. The Drysdales of the Home Hardware and staff attended a convention at Elmira on Monday. Wednesday morning Lawrence Wein of , Exeter entertained the residents by playing the piano and singing. Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Don Beck presided 'for the Church Service, with Louise Mitchell accompanying on the piano. The funeral of the late Herbert Whiteman of Toronto and a former resident, of Kippen was held from the Bonthron Weslake Funeral Home on Monday. He is survived by one daughter, May and a sister Miss Maybelle Whiteman of Seaforth. The Rev. Mr. Stevens had charge of the service and interment was in Hensall Union Cemetery. Joanne Vorstenbosch, 11 year old great granddaughter of Robert Thomson of Kippen and daughter of Audrey and Bert Vorstenbosch, Mitchell' was awarded a $50 piano scholarship at the Stratford Music Festival:" Her 7 year old brother Bert won third prize in solo and teamed with Charlene Horan of Monkton won first prize in a piano duet eight years and under at the same festival.
