(Staff Photo) Students take' part in - Ccinada Fast On Friday, 25th April, the Student Body of S.D.H.S. is being asked to forego dinner, and donate the money that would have normally been spent on that meal to 'Canada Fast'. "Canada Fast' is designed to create the motivation and opportunity for secondary school students across the nation to learn of, and in a limited sense, to experience the problems besetting humanity in the twentieth century. It is, in short, an attempt to encourage an intellectual and, experiential awareness of the 'Global Dilemma'. U Thant said in 1§69 of the Global Dilemma. 'A Global partnership (should be formed to curb the arms race, improve human environment, to defuse population explosion and to supply . the required momentum to development efforts. If such. a global partnership is not formed within 'the next decade, then I very much fear that these problems . . : will be beyond our capacity to control.' In our limited sphere of influence, an individual cannot do much to alleviate the suffering and deprivation of humanity. But 'Canada Fast' is a positive step. All monies collected will be turned over to the 'Canadian Save the Children Fund'. The success of' this project depends on the humanity and compassion of each and every student in S.D.H.S., and the near one million secondary school students across Canada. We, hope everyone will participate to the fullest.
