Parades, concerts on big weekend
There will be more going on in
Seaforth on the four day
'Homecoming Week this summer
than the people who were - here
when.Seaforth became a town 100
years ago ever dreamed of.
Mixed in --With lots of chances
for good old fashioned visiting
and catching up with old friends
will be both home made
entertainment and, nationally
known acts. Two big parades are
scheduled on Saturday, June 28,
and Monday, June X-- -
A western 'horse show is
planned for Saturday at the
fairgrounds.
There will be soccer, golf and
ball tournaments, a car rally and a
bike rodeo.
The Seaforth Old Timers will
play exhibition baspball against
the CKNX Try Hards on Sunday
evening. A tractor pull will be
held at the fairgrounds on
Tuesday, July 1.
School reunions are going to be
held at all three Seaforth schools
Monday afternoon. Sidewalk
sales will go on all day Monday
with Main Street closed off from
Market to Goderich Streets.
A special- reunion of the
members of the 1951 Seaforth
District High School team who
were WOSSA B rugby
champions, will be held Saturday
afternoon at 10 a.m.
Miss Canada, the KW
Dutchmen Marching Band and
the York Lions Steel Band will be
featured in Saturday's parade.
Tuesday's parade will be
especially for antique cars and
machinery.
There will be at least one
concert or dance every night of
the four day weekend. Things
start off Friday night with a dance
and concert featuring Lincoln
Green and the Stampeders.
Saturday night there will be a
dance to records for the young
people at the Legion, while others
enjoy the Centennial Ball at the
,arena. Miss' Centennial will be
crowned at the dance and a draw
will take place for the 1200 Club,
Seaforth's Centennial lottery.
Activities on Sunday will be a
little sifter paced, with a drum
head service at Victoria Park in
the morning. Jack Burghardt,
London TV newsman, will be the
speaker at an ecumenical service
at SDHS at 7:30 that night.
