family of the late-Mrs. Eli Rapieti
whose funeral was held Sunday in
St. Peter's Church, Brodhagen.
They lived here and owned the
Gordon Miller home before
moving to the Milverton Nursing
Home where she passed away.

Mrs. A. M. Looby returned to
her home last week after
spending the winter in Ottawa. •
Sister Mary and Sister
Margaret Eckert of Essex spent
the weekend with Mr. Mike
Eckert and other relatives. .
Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner of
Sterling Heights, Michigan,
visited last week with their
cousins Peter " and Wilfred
Maloney.
Miss Mary Evans of Windsor
visited last week with her Aunt,

JAMES EDWARD SLOAN
James Edward Sloan of St.
Columban died Friday, April II,
at his residenceHe was 77. Mr.
Sloan was a farmer in McKillop
Township, where he was born,
until he retiretho Si. Columban in
1964.
His wife, the former Josephine
C. Kale, to whom he was married
in 1924, predeceased him on July
2, 1972. He is survived by eight
children, Madeline, Mrs. Thomas
Murray, MeKillop, M22a, Mrs.
Gerald Ga ffney, Peterborough,
Florence, M rs. Donald Brady,
London, Joseph 1., Windsor; Th
omas F. Peterborough; Patrick,
Lakefield; Gerald B., Grafton and
James G., McKillop. One
daughter, Rita, died in 1949.
Two sisters, 'Mrs. Mary Jordan,
Marian Vailla, London and
Margaret, Mrs. Mack Feeney,
Bridgeport and 35 grandchildren
also survive.
Mr. Sloan, who was educated
at S.S.5, McKillop, served as a
local school board member and
was a Knights of Columbus
member.
The late Mr. Sloan rested at the
R.S.Box Funeral. Home until
Tuesday when funeral services
were held Tuesday morning from
St. Columban Roman Catholic
Church, with Father
Oostveen officiating. The Knights
of Columbus held a &kernel
service at the funeral hdme
Sunday night 'and prayers were
held on Monday night.
Interment was in St.
Columban Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Gilbert Murray, William
Albert, Orville Beuerman,
Jack Lane; Raymond Murray and
Theo Van Bakel. Cathy and Joey
•Sloan were flowerbearers.

celebrated her 90th birthday on
Sunday, was guest of honour at
her daughter and son-in-law's,
Mr. and Mr. August Scherbarth.

dinner guests at the same home.
'Mrs. Lena Elligson also cele-
brated her 86th birthday. , We are
sorry to hear she is in Seaforth
Community Hospital.
Mrs. Viola Kistener is also in

the Stratford General Hospital.
Mrs. Wanda Smith is in
Seaforth Coinmunity Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fischer,
Fay and Mark, Walton were
dinner guests on Saturday of Mr.
and Mrs. Laverne Wolfe. Mr.
and Mrs, Lorne Wolfe and Dale;
Mr. and Mrs Don Wolfe. Steven
spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Benninger.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Maloney,
Liz, Linda, Laurie and Molly of
Stratford visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Maloney.

attended the Christening of
Elizabeth Hunt, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Hunt which took

have left for a three week vacation

Ben worked twenty-four years for
P.L. Robertson's Mfg. Co.,
Milton, and Elsie has worked
eight and a half years for the
Ernest C. Drury School, Milton.
Ben's great grandfather came
from the Kincardine district.
They are both enjoying the
tranquility of country living.

Meeting 5 of the Egmondville I
4-H Club members met at the
home of the Eggerts. The
meeting was opened with the 4-H
pledge and then all the girls
present gave an answer for the
roll call, My Suggestions for our
Achievement Day Exhibit". The
minutes were read by Brenda
Cooper. The Right Lines Can
Flatter Your Figures' was chosen
as the topic for our Club Exhibit
on Achievement Day.
The topic under discussion was
"Making the Blouse". Marg Van
Dyke told the girls about stay-
stitching and grain. Following
this • , Mrs. Eggert spoke on
"fitting". Mrs. Eggert demon-
strated staystitching, darts, plain
seams, seam finishes as well as
facings while Marg Van Dyke
read the steps. Then Marg,
demonstrated the french and
flat-felled seams while Mrs.
Eggert read.
The meeting was closed with
the. serving 'of refreshments and
our next meeting is at the home of
the Van Dykes.

8:00 p.m.
