Looby returned to her home last week after spending the winter in Ottawa. • Sister Mary and Sister Margaret Eckert of Essex spent the weekend with Mr. Mike Eckert and other relatives. . Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner of Sterling Heights, Michigan, visited last week with their cousins Peter " and Wilfred Maloney. Miss Mary Evans of Windsor visited last week with her Aunt, ARNOLD STINNISSEN JAMES EDWARD SLOAN James Edward Sloan of St. Columban died Friday, April II, at his residenceHe was 77. Mr. Sloan was a farmer in McKillop Township, where he was born, until he retiretho Si. Columban in 1964. His wife, the former Josephine C. Kale, to whom he was married in 1924, predeceased him on July 2, 1972. He is survived by eight children, Madeline, Mrs. Thomas Murray, MeKillop, M22a, Mrs. Gerald Ga ffney, Peterborough, Florence, M rs. Donald Brady, London, Joseph 1., Windsor; Th omas F. Peterborough; Patrick, Lakefield; Gerald B., Grafton and James G., McKillop. One daughter, Rita, died in 1949. Two sisters, 'Mrs. Mary Jordan, Marian Vailla, London and Margaret, Mrs. Mack Feeney, Bridgeport and 35 grandchildren also survive. Mr. Sloan, who was educated at S.S.5, McKillop, served as a local school board member and was a Knights of Columbus member. The late Mr. Sloan rested at the R.S.Box Funeral. Home until Tuesday when funeral services were held Tuesday morning from St. Columban Roman Catholic Church, with Father Oostveen officiating. The Knights of Columbus held a &kernel service at the funeral hdme Sunday night 'and prayers were held on Monday night. Interment was in St. Columban Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gilbert Murray, William Albert, Orville Beuerman, Jack Lane; Raymond Murray and Theo Van Bakel. Cathy and Joey •Sloan were flowerbearers. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ruston, Madeleine, Donald attended the Christening of Elizabeth Hunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hunt which took place at St. James' Church, Seaforth with Father Laragh attending. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Ruston were her Godparents. Mr, and mrs. Tom Simonsen have left for a three week vacation in California, Mrs. Frank Evans. Miss Carol Anne Krauskopf of Guelph spent a few days with Mrs. Dan Costello. Mrs. George Coyne is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital in London. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Billy Butters on the arrival of a baby boy. Ben's great grandfather came from the Kincardine district. They are both enjoying the tranquility of country living. Marg Van Dyke told the girls about stay- stitching and grain. Following this • , Mrs. Eggert spoke on "fitting". Mrs. Eggert demon- strated staystitching, darts, plain seams, seam finishes as well as facings while Marg Van Dyke read the steps.
