'eaforth may have a daY camp
for children this„,surnmer instead
of a Playgrotind program like the
one operated during the past two
summers, the Rec Committee
decided at their meeting
Wednesday.
Recreation Director/Clive Uuist
told the meeting that although no
government' grants would be •
available this year for a play-
ground program, there was a
possibility of getting an
Experience • '75 grant for a day
caMp. Mr. Guist said the day
camp would,include an older age
group than a playground and
would incorporate' playground
type activities with nature study,
camping and orienteering
experiences.
Children would be bussed from
Seaforth to a day camp site as
activities would be ruri there
every week day for six weeks.
There are several possible sites
for such a day camp in the ,area,
he said. The Falls River Reserve
near Benmiller, has been
contacted and looks like an ideal
site. "All the facilities are there
and it's a little more interesting
for the kids than just going out to
a field somewhere", Mr. Buist
said.
The Recreation Committee
decided to apply for a grant to run
a day camp and Mr. Buist said a
decision should be back by May
15.
If the Experience- '75 grant is
not received, the Committee
decided to go ahead and run a
regular playground program. The
cost of the program is included in
the 1975 Rec budget so Mr. Buist
said that if the day camp goes on
instead "the budget can only go
down." -
The cost of a playground
• • •
Buis' said and the cost Of. a day
program is about •$2,755, Mr
camp program would be about
$3890, most of which the Rec Gqminittee hopes will be covered
by the g,rant.
year is scheduled for Tuesday,
June 24th. -
