The 1974-75, I.H.L. final got
underway SUiiday night with the
Stars drawing first blood by, a
tune of 4-2 over the Flyers.
The Stars got rolling early as
Dale Kennedy tallied with the
game only being one minute and
twenty seconds old: 'At 5:17
Kennedy scored again and the
Stars were , heading for what
appeared to be a rout.. Brian
Leonhardt counted for the Flyers
at 13:59 and the first period
ended 2-1 in the Stars favour.
After dominating the first
stanza the Stars seemed content
to sit back and Bill Price
connected, at 14:23 to up the
margin to 3-I at the end, of the
second. ,
Play in the second ¢3eriod wirs
even. The goal tending of Ross
Sovier proved theonly ~tumbling
block in the Flyers path. At the
other ,end Rick Fortune was
keeping the game respectable as
'the Flyer defense gave him little
or no help at all,
Tptal 2589
High single; Shirley -Krainer,

Open 'bird
The Flyers opened the third
period with a shot and _quickly the
play, found itself mostly in the
Stars end zone. .The flyers
h.arnmered 17 shots at RossSovier
and' he stopped all but-one.
it was a case of too little to late
for the Flyers. Bill Teal and Gary
'Betties CVehanged late goals and
the score ended by. that 4-2 count.
Next Sunday the two -teams
meet again at 7:30. The Flyers
have been down before and came
back. They find, however; that
the Stars aft better. thari the
Blues and,as a result will have to
work twice as hard to win.
The Flyers fired 40 shots at the
Stars net but Ross Smiler held his
ground. The Stars hit for 29
against Rick Fortune and despite
losing 4.2, Fortune was in top
form.
