was ,sting.- Mrs. Jack McEwing
read the scripture lesson from
John 10: 111 followed by the
Meditation entitled, "We are all
. weak helpess sheep":
The 23rd Psalm was read in
unison. Mrs. McEwing read a
very interesting story written in,
1951 by a Mr, Wilson who hid ''''
been in the Holy Land and had
returned to teach a boys class in
Sunday School on the 23rd Psalm,
saying that God is like a Shepherd
and she closed with a poem,
"23rd Psalm for busy people".
The hymn, "Saviour Like a
Shepherd' lead us" was sung
followed with praYer b y Mrs.
Reid.-The collection was received
by Mrs' Mac Sholdice and
dedicated by Mrs. hied, closing
,the devotions:
Mrs. Gerald Watson. gave the
topic on "-Put my worries to
work" Thanking God for our
worries. If we do worry let it be
for some good reason . She read
an item on a "Prayer for the new
Year", stressing that the best use
of the pasttis to get a futnie out of
it.
Mrs.Thamer presided for the
business and thanked those that
had taken part. The minutes were
approved as read by the secret
ary, Mrs. Howard Hackwell. The
roll call' was taken and sides
chosen for the Copper Contest
,with, this year's leaders being
"'Mrs" Carol Collins and Mrs.
Murray Smith.
Mrs. Harold Bolger and Mrs.
W.C.Hackwell offered to take
part in The World Day of Prayer
at the church on Friday, March
7th at 2 p.m. It is open to all
denominations and the group is
urged to bring their neighbors.
The executive of te U,C.W. will
meet at 1 p.m.
The Huron-Perth Presbyterial'
delegate to attend-from each unit.
A program resource workshop is
to be held in Seaforth.
The Easter' T,hankoffering of
the'U.,C.W. is planned for April
6, in the church at 8 P.M. with
local churches to be invited. the
men's choir from Belgrave will be
special guests with Rev, Roberts
as speaker. 2,
It was decided to h ave a
Bakeiess Bake Sale again this
year; with the secretary to have
the -envelopes ready for the next
meeting, and to be brought back
to the unit- fleeting in March , at
the home of Mrs. Howard
Hackwell.
.Mrs.Tharner closed the
meeting with prayer, Grace was
sung and lunch was served by
Mrs, Ralph Traviss, Mrs. Russell
Marks, Mrs. Jack kl cEweing and
the hostess.

Mrs. W.J.Leeming spent "the
past week in St. Catharines and
returned hoine on Saturday with
Mr. and Mrs. David Brady, Mary
and baby daughter will remain for
a week's visit at the teeming
home with her parents.

0, Three students from our school
took part in a German contest
held at London , last Wednesday,'
February 19. - Ruth Siemon,
Phyllis Buertnann and Joanne
Bodie were the students and Mrs.
Prystayko, their teacher, also
went along. The three students
first had an oral test which was
-followed by a written test. 'They
then saw three movies about
• Germany and .a banquet followed.
After the banquet prizes were
given out. None ,of the students
from our school won anything but
the experience they 'gained from
the trip .was valuable.
• Typing Contest Results

The wrestling team members
who qualified for WOSSA
attended the event on Friday,
February . 21 and Saturday,
February 22 at Sarnia North-'
western High School. The
members who qualified' were
Ross Govier, Mark Consitt, Rob
Knetsch and Lyle. Hoegy. Carl
Bolton, 'Coach and Mr. Renshaw, .
staff advisor went also. They left
at seven o'clock Friday morning
1"! 'and when they arrived in Sarnia
they wrestled until eleven o'clock
that night. They stayed at the
.Travel Lodge in Sarnia overnight'
and were up bright and early next
morning at eight-thirty to Wrestle
again. They were done at four
o'clock. The wrestlers faced
'some still competition ak a lot of
the All-Ontario wrestlers—were
back again to defend their titles.

Last week the 'SDHS Travellers
found out that their plans •had to
be changed and that they are now
going to Spain instead of Yucatan
which was previously planned.
The plane to Yucatan had two
hundred -seats and only sixty
seats were-sold, so the company
asked the girls'if they would mind

Monday, February 17 a general
meeting of the Vanastra
Community Association was held
at the Vanastra Christian Church.
The meeting was chaired bly Mrs.
Nellie Gonie, presidentrN
The Association voted" approv"al
to • amend the cobstitution
allowing an increase to 11 direc-
tors from the previous 9 directors.
Presently, a position for one
youth director is vacant. Perry
Jutzi, Helena Arts and Jas.
Livingstone will be contacted and
asked to stand as nominees for a
future vote to fill this position.
In a secret ballot the member-
ship strongly ' supported the
Motion to budget funds to assist
the Recreation Committee in
covering operating costs for the
Community Centre.
'Dick Briere gave a progress
report on the St. Patrick's Dance
planned for March IS. 'Tickets
contest which was held a few
weeks ago finally arrived last
week. In the senior division,
Linda Bell placed second. In the
junior division Tracy Baker placed
fourth and Joanno,., Primeau
placed .f(th. The juniors placed
third as 'a team. Congratulations
girls.
B9sketball Fans to Waterloo •
Last Wednesday, the ninteenth
about fort9-nine students plus
Miss Weiler, Mr. Proctorand Mr.
Johnston boarded bus and
headed for Waterloo to watch the
Warriors play basketball. They
were really gpod games and
Waterloo won'both of them.

He wrestled six, times And won
four times, -which enable him to
come in fourth in the finals.
Ross's largest opponent was a
student from -Woodstock who
weighed 390 pounds. Ross
wrestled against him and beat
him.
• Mr. Renshaw said there were a
lot of injuries during the competi-
tion, but luckily no one from our
school was hurt. A large
audience from the, Sarnia area
showed up to _watch the event.
Mr. Renshaw and the boys were
going • to Spain 'instead for the
very same price as the Yucatan
trip, The girls Were a bit
disappointed at first' but they
finally decided they would take
the Spain trip as they were
getting more for their money.
During the Spain trip they might
even drop off ,in Africa for a few
hours visit. '

Clinton, .Vanastra and District
.Curling Club. Sixty-four curlers
formed two six end draws with
several pests enjoying the game
for the first time.
Following a pot luck lunch,
Barry Davis presented prizes of
-wine, cheese and glasses to the
winning teams as well as the
evening's two low teams.
Highlight of the evening was
the, draw for the February Share
the Wealth Winner. President of
the Vanastra Community Associa-
tion Nellie Gonie made the draw
and announced Mrs. Gwen
Moller, 88 Albert Street N.,
Goderich had won t479. The
winning ticket was sold by Pat
Osborn manager of the Brewers
Retail Store, Goderich.
Proceeds from this draw are
used for construction of -the
was parents' night at SDHS,..This
was a, chance for the 'students'
parents to visit their teachers and •
see how their son or daughter was
getting along. The attendance
,was very good.
Marketing 340 and 440
Goon BM: Trip
On Monday, February 17, the
Marketing' 340 and 440 classes,
with' Mr._' Renshaw and Mr.
DoughterY went to the Sq uare
Shopping Centre in Missisauga.
The students were given a guided
tour of the shopping centre then
they .were let free to shop on their
own. They conducted a small
survey during their shopping
time. The trip lasted' all day and.
they drove down on a coach bus

impressed by the school. It had
three gyms" and 1800 students,
but they were away Friday as it
was a professional development
day. Mr. Renshaw also said they
had'a bit of a problem' with -one of
their wrestlers. Rob Knetsch,
who weighed 94 pounds, wasn't
eligible for the- 90 pound weight
class as he , was four pounds
overweight. So by running .and
sweating the pounds off •Rob lost
'those four pounds in two hours in
time for the weigh-in. • •
Mr. Renshaw said the boys put
up a good fight and he was proud
of their effort and behaviour,
, Girls' Curling Team at WOSSA
The girls' curling team took
part in WOSSA which was held in
Sarnia on Friday, February 24.
Faye Storey (skip), Willy Blom
(vice), Elizabeth Pryce (second)
and Linda Bell (lead) all took part
in the event. About sixteen teams
took part (eight boys' teams and
eight girls' •teams). The tea
didn't win anything but they had
lots,'of fun. Mr. Morton, coach,
went down too.. The girls wish to
thank him for his moral support.
They also wish to thank Seaforth
Curling Club for the use of their
Sweaters.

Mrs. Jack-case, general chair-
man and Mrs. Charles Reeves,
treasurer,, report that to date the
drive for funds for the March of
Dimes Ability Fund Seaforth 'has
reached $1,200, Mrs. Case
expressed appreciation to the
captains, the many canvassers
and all those-who contributed so
generously.
