Following the supper, Shirley McAllister conducted a trailer on the lot in question. a very entertaining glimpse - at Council also learned that the activities• of our church 50 years interest rate on short term-- -ago. Elgin Rowcliffe, Harry Horton, Harry Hoy, Pearl Erratt, Mrs. Robert McAllister, Grace Peck, Greta Lammie and Nan Britton. They sang older hymns of the Church accompanied on the piano by Myrtle Sherritt, Pat Cook read interesting portions from 150 year-old book of the Trustee Board, and Elva Forrest talked about Sunday School picnics 50 years ago. Rev. Don Beck opened the annual meeting with scripture meditation and prayer. It was moved that "Elva 'Forrest act as secretary for the meeting. A moment of silence was held for those who had passed away during the past year. The annual report was reviewed with Cecil Pepper explaining the Treasurer's report, Doreen Spencer the U.C.W. report and Doug Cook reporting for _ the „ Trustees.The budget was discussed and accepted. • Ian McAllister thanked those who were retiring from the board, •-• • A planning discussion with Huron planner, Gary Davidson, will take place at Hetisall council's March 3rd meeting. -councillors heard at their regular February 3 meeting. Councillors are to bring ideas to the planning meeting. other council business E.R.Davis reported' ploughing snow on the sidewalks and removing snow twice from Main Street. Counc. Neilands reported on the question of street lights and the recommendation for the reconstruction of Highway 84 from Nelson Street Westward was sent on its way. Counc. Knight reported sitting in with the Parks Board. He felt that Council's participation with the Parks Board should be Correspondent Bertha MacGregor Rev. W. D. Mr. Bert Thompson, clerk reported for the Session. Mrs. Harvey Hyde gave • the W.M.S. report and Mrs. Malcom Dougall organist and choir leader reported for the choir. Mrs. Clarence Volland gave, the Sabbath School report. Mrs. Hyde gave the Ladies' Aid Report and Mr. Clarence Volland 'read the congregational state- ment. The Cromherien Financial report was given by James Love. Al Hoggarth and Bert Thomp- son were reappointed church trustees. The auditors Mr, and Mrs, Percy Campbell were reappointed for 1975. A vote of thanks was extended to the church officers Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Volland and to Mrs. Malcom Dougall organist and choir leader. Lease, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bossence and David from Stratford. In Sunny Spain Harold Bauer. Logan, arranged a delightful fifteen day tour of Spain with a side trip to Morocco, northern Africa. the group travelling under the name of the Logan' Farmers' Group. He was assisted in making the arrangements by his son-in-law, Santiago Leeyva of Niagara Falls, who, with his wife, accompanied the travellers. They were - based at Torremolinos, where Mr. Lcyva's father has hotels and from there visited many historic sites. Granada, an old Spanish city. was the seat of the palace of the Moorish kings (the Alhambra) to the year 1490. Alcazar in Sevilla was an ancient Moorish palace that later became a cathedral with some 800 pillars and marvellous handiwork. Between Sevilla and Cordova the group saw examples of highly organized farming and some forty million olive trees.The vineyards are seen in all adaptable areas throughout Spain. Two days were spent in northern Africa, travelling from Algeciras on the Spanish side of the strait to Morocco. While at their point of departure they had wonderful view of Gibraltar, four miles'iti,vay but not accessible fion Sp*. The Reeve felt that the Parks Board should decide what they intend to do and they should know that Council is behind them. Councillors Knight and Baker will attend the next Park's Board meeting. A letter will be sent to the councils in the area regarding their participation in the necessary projects. MARY McMURTRIE Mrs. Mary McMurtrie, the . former Mary Cochrane, of Hensall, wife of the late Hugh McMurtrie, passed away in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Wednesday, January 29th, 1975 in her 86th year. 'Surviving is her son, Alex, R. R.#3, Kippen; brothers, • James Cochrane,Toronto; William, Illinois; and, sisters Mrs. Edna Robertson, Napanee; Mrs. Ida Dick, Nova Scotia; Mrs. Agnes Not-they, Cameron, A granddaughter, Ars. Carol Hillier and great grandsons, John, Steven and James Hillier of Thamesford also surVive.. Funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Chapel, Hensall on Saturday, February 1st at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald Beck, officiating. Interment in , Baird's Cernetery. Other ministers who attended were Rev. E.D.Stuart, Centralia and Rev. M. Mo rrison; 'Varna. Rev. D. Beck opened the meeting with singing '-'The Churh is one Foundation" with Mrs. M. Moffatt at the organ. The Junior Choir of Brucefield and Kippen rendered two beautiful anthems. Rev. Donald Bias delivered the sermon and closed with prayer. Hymn, "Faith of Our Fathers" was sung. Rev. Stephens, after being inducted, was brought to the place of his Ministry in this Chilircit and announced The Benediction. A reception for the minister and his faintly was held in the Church Hall. Rev., Stephens introduced his family and spoke a . Rev. Don and Mrs.Beck for their faithful service and presented them %kith a gift, to which they made fitting replies. Rev. Don Beck also thanks all the 'workers in the Church for their co-operation during the past year. 'Mike —Beek showed slides of happenings in the Church during the past year and Rev. .Beck closed the meeting with the benediction. United Church Notes Mr. Earle Shapter provided the special music for the Service of Worship in Hensall United Church Sunday morning. He sang a solo, "Fear not ye, 0 Israel", accompanied on the organ by 'Mrs.Turkheim. Rev, Don Beck preached on the sermon topic "Christ's Ambassadors". The flowers placed in the Church were from the funeral of Nis. Hugh (Polly) McMurtrie on Saturday.
