Institute held their Dine and
Relax evening Thursday. January
9th with members, husband's,
guc sts present in the Orange
Hall. The L.O.B.A.• ladies served
a roast beef dinner.
Mrs. Arnold Taylor introduced
the head table.' Mrs. Jas. Keys ,
District President, brought
greetings from,. South Huron
District and Mrs, G ordan , Papple,
Provincial Board member,
brought greetings from F.W.1.0.
Kenneth Campbell showed
pictures and Old of his trip across
the Atlantie-He and two friends
left his home on May 24 and set
sail on May 28th front Halifax,'
ran into very heavy foggy weather
-as well as a storm. They landed at
Tresay Bay, Newfoundland and
carried out sonic repairs on the
boat. before starting out for
Portsmouth, England. They
witnessed several storms, saw
whales. icebergs and many
d.15.113.1-ntis. During the storm they
had to change every 1/2 hour
handling the boat. They ate well.
as their wives had packed plenty
of food. They saw several fishinf-,.
boats and D.C.3 planes from
Royal Air Force. flew over them
and back to England so they felt
they were looking after them.
They sighted Bishop Rock on
June 21st and it took two days to
go up the English Calmnel to
Portsinouth. It was very foggy.
they could hear a lot of fog horns
but could not see anything on
Saturday morning they sailed
around the Isle of Wight and
landed right in the middle of the
Sail Boat race. They went through
customs at noon. rented a car and
.visited 10 days before flying
home. Sold the boat later in
England. Mr's. R.M.Scott
thanked Mr. Campbell.
