The 'lead changed hands several times but the Stars mine out on top by a Blues vs. Kings 7:30 margin. Six different players shared the goal scoring duties for the Stars - Joe Dick, Ken Cardno, Reinny -Van Leon. Dale Kennedy, Kevan Broome and Bill Price all scored single markers. With the victory the Stars ended a mild slump and jammed, the race up even tighter. The Kings looked as if they would pull it out or at least gain a tie bat a late goal by Bill Price gave the Stars the, win. Gerry Feeney led the Kings with 3 goals. Art Strong and Cord Dick connected for the other two. , The late game saw the ' Blues continue their torrid streak towards the top of the pack as they triumphed 7-5 over the Flyers. A,goal by Larry Dale with only 2 minutes remaining, and an insurance goal by Roy Dalton with 50 seconds left gave the Blues the victory. Blues scorers were Dale with - three, Roy Dalton with a pair, Joe McLean and Doug O'Reilly with singles. The Flyers got goals from Ben Akker, Jiin •Montgoniery, Jim Carter, Bob Montgomery - and Steve Ekert. The Blues have started the New •Year on the 'right foot but the Flyers continue to fade. It appeared that they had control of the game with a 5-3 lead but several defensive lapses allowed the Blues to score 4 straight goals and salt the game away. • Vacations, work commitments In stria) Becausp of the holiday season the writer4 got a little -behind tti keeping track of I.H.L. action.,So back tracidilfrbit, here is what happened December 29, 1974. The early game was somewhat of a _disaster for the Flyers. The Kings, with a touch of "New Year's Juice" destroyed the red side by a count of 9,1. Although one shouldn't make excuses the Flyers were missing four(priyers. Probably tfie score would have been the same. had they had 7 lines. Gerry Feeney led the Kings' march with 4 goals. Gord Dick added a pair, Ray Deveraux, Art Strong- and Ron "Ike" Hilde- brand all chipped in a goal a piece. - Again Ben Akker scored for the Flyers. It seems he is playing the steadiest for' his team. The whole game revolved around the fact that the Kings could do no wrong and the Flyers only laced up one skate. Final Bell ' The final bell rang with Ray Deveraux bearing down on Flyers' goalie, Rick Fortune. He missed the chance. Oh well, who likes even numbers anyway? At the start of the season the word was that the Blues were the Kansas City Scouts of the I.H.L. They had lost four in a row and allowed something like 35 goalS in that stretch. But they have turned things around completely and are now and 11404 havi: lion the F4rets while the Blues continue to win no matter v,i,hat they haliev, , Janyary 12, 1975 Flyefs vs Stars9:00 M. ridlpg a four ,,sarn winnwinning..,,;nning., at :teak.
