—The Waterloo Chronicle says : About
ten days ago a squat, thick -set son of Auld
Scotia, about 60 years of age, slightly bald,
and speaking with a strong, broad accent,
came to Waterloo and 'did up' a few of his
ellow countrymen before the tree char-

a very plausible story, keying that lie had
taught school for many yearsin the old

ham, supported Mr. Sholdice, A. sump-
tuous wedding breakfast was served, after
which the happy twain left for a weddiug
trip to London. Tho gifts to the bride
were ample proof of the high esteem in
which she is held. A long, happy, pros-
perous life is the wish of their many

After an illnese of a few days,Wt. Speir,
third son of the late Gilbert Speir, died at
the residence of his brother , Allan, 4th
line, on Tuesday, 9th inst. He was a
hearty young man, 6 feet in height, 180
pouudf iu weight, and ouly 38 years of
age. On Wedneeday of last week while
working for Wm, Little, of the same line,
he complained of pains in his limbs, aim.
!liar to an attack of sciatica, and went to
his brother's. A physician was called, but
although temporary relief was afforded
the patient, he shortly after became delir-
ions and died as above stated without
regaining consciouenees, The deceased was
born on the s o m on Which be died
and was one of artiest of the fancily.

took plane on Thursday afternoon,Rev.Jnn.
