Every Saturday morning
throughout the winter dedicated
adults troupe to the Community
Centre in Sgaforth where , they
have a great time and play
hockey. .
The emphasis in the Seaforth
Minor Hockey Association's
activities this year, according to
Wayne Ellis, who is one of the
coaches, was on learning the
fundamentals d hockey and on
playing .the game properly.
"They didn't just go out and slap
the puck around", Mr. Ellis said,
"they learned quite a bit".
No bodyl.checking was allowed
and the referees kept a close
watch on things, he added. A
total of nine teams played- hockey
every Saturday -and -the players
ranged in age from four or five up
to 16 or.) 7.
The Minor Hockey Association
had some trouble getting enough
volunteer coaches to staff .their
program this winter. -The efforts
of those who gave up part of their
Saturday mornings all winter -long
so that not only their 'own ,. but
everyone else's kids, could play
hockey should be appreciated by
the whole community.
The smallest group of hockey
players, the Tykes', had just a
scrimage,. not- a regular game
during last Satu'rday's Hockey
Night in Seaforth. Raymond
Anstett was picked as top
goaltender; David Campbell was
most valuable player and Rop
Pryee was judged most improved
player.
In the Novice League, the
Blue's beat the Yellow's 3 - 2. Top
Goaltender was Keith McLure.
most 'valuable player; -Rob Lane
and most improved player Gerard
Ryan.
The Bomber's Atom team beat
the Canadian's by a score of 4 - 0.
Robin Seymour was top goal
tender, Pete Underwood, most,
valuable player and Mike Bruxer,
most improved player.
In the Pee Wee'division,'.. the
Canadians defeated the North
Stars, 2 - 1: Top goaltender was
Steve Underwood, most vafuable
player was Dave Ellis and most
improved player was Jirp
Parkinson.
The two Bantam Midget
Combine teams played a game
which saw the Eagles beat the
Bombers 3 - 2. Top Goaltender
was Tony Arts and most valuable
player was Frank Lane, Randy
Scott was named most improved
player.
All the trophy winners were
presented with their awards

night.
