Monday last, aiming great loss of life and
destruction of roperty in some parts.
—Now that the hot weather has come,
people should come to the fountain and get
a fine drink of lemon sour, vanilla, straw-
berry, raspberry, pine apple, ginger, cliooh-
late, sarsaparilla or ice create soda, one of

—The Rev. G. Priest, of McMaster
Hall, Toronto, wl o has boon visiting in

the services of the Baptist church, on S

—It is expecte • that the Rev. Wm. Mc-
Gregor, who has eon absent on a visit to
England and Soo land, will conduct the•
services of the Baptist church, in this
town, on Sabbath next. His congregation,
no doubt,. will a glad to have him with
them again.
—Mr. and Mrs W. J. Chapman were at
Mt. Forest, Iast t eek, attending the wed-
ding of Miss Gil =.y to Mr. Addison, mer-
chant tailor, of that town. The newly -
wedded pair apo t a day in town this week,
the guosts of 1 r. and i1re, Chapman.

townspeople.

Thursday of last eek, one of the G. T. R.
companies, of Sur tford, taking first. The
race was one tha our boys had practiced
