Achievement Day for the 4-H
Homemaking Club on "Creative
Block Printing" Was held Satur-
day at the Kirkton Community
Center. Staffa #3 club with Mrs.
Dalton Smale and Mrs. Ross
Balfour as leaders set up an ex-
hibit on "Five designs with one
block" with Debbie winteringham
giving the commentary. Staffa"
#1 club •with Mrs. Spencer Jef-
fery and. Mrs. Arthur. Smale as
leaders, presented a demonstra-
tion on "Let's get ready to block
print," with Elizabeth Temple-
, man, Susan Norris and Helen
S male participa ting.
Mrs. Spencer Jeffery re-
ceived a five-year leadership
award for successfully leading
4-H Homemaking for five years.
Helen Smale, Staffa #1, re-
ceived her county honors for
successfully completing 6 4-H
Homemaking Clubs and. Linda
Miller, Staffa. Ruth,Jeffery,
Staffa #1 and jacinna Waddell,
Staffa #3; each received their
provincial honor pins and certi-
ficates for successfully com-
pleting 12 4-H Homemaking clubs.

Mrs. Bert Daynard, Mrs.
Norman Harburn and Mrs. Cam-
eron Vivian were hostesses for
the Family and Consumer Af-
fairs meeting of the Staffa Wo-
men's Institute held in the town-
ship hall on Wednesday evening
October 24.
Mrs. John Miller presided.
Roll call -' "A household hint"
was answered by 11 members
and 3 visitors., It was decided to
quilt a quilt at the home of Mrs„
Cameron Vivian. Mrs. John
Templeman was named a delegate
to the area convention on Nov-
ember 7 and 8 at London. An
interesting demonstration and
talk on Symmography design was
given by Mrs..R. Richman, Cro-
rnarty.
Mrs. Daynard gave a paper
on the motto - a woman can throw
out with a teaspoon, what a man
can bring in with a shovel.
Guest speaker for the evening
was Mrs. Peter Dowling, Strat-
ford, who gave an interesting
and informative talk on con-
sumer affairs. Courtesy re-
marks were given by Mrs. George
Vivian. Lunch was served by the
hostesses,
Geraldine Templeman, Strat-
ford spent the weekend with her
family, Mr. and Mrs. John Tem-
plennan„, ,,At .the same home on
Sunday were Mrs. Dale Martyn
and Michelle, Russeldale, Bev.
Stewart, Stratford and Mrs. Dave
Capling, London.
Mr. and -Mrs. William Dal-
rymple, Archydol, Saskatchewan
are visiting for a week with Mr.
and Mrs. Philip James and other
relatives in the community.
Ross Bowman, Fullarton vi-
sited on Saturday with Richard
Templeman.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cross and
Miss Janet Miller, London, vi-
sited on the weekend with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie
Miller.
Mrs. Eaton, Acton and Bruce
Eaton, Dacca, Bangladesh, vi-
sited Saturday with the Temple-
man family.

Reunion ball
The annual reunion for the
family of the late "Michael and
Louise Flanagan" was held sa-
turday. A Reunion•Ball was the
event for this year held in the
Philippine Room at the Breslau
Hotel in Breslau. The com-
mittee in charge indluded:

tary-Mr. and Mrs. Mike Har-

The "Reunion Banner" and
family "c oat of Arms" decorated
the hall. Pictures of the past
were displayed for everyone's
viewing. Corsages in autumn
flowers and boutonnieres in red
were given to the immediate fa-
mily which are: ' Mr. and Mrs.
Gib Murray; Mrs. .Pat Flanagan;
Mr. and Mrs. Matt Murray; Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Flanagan; Mr,
and Mrs. Andrew Dantzer.
Candles adorned the tables
for smorgasbord dinner. Dinner
ended with the committee being
introduced by the President and
the "gavel" was then passed on
to the new President for next
year, Joe Flanagan.
Dancing then followed with
music by Ken Shade and TZe
Sounds of Our Time.' Spot
dances and prizes were won by:
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dantzer,
London; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Mur-
_ ray, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Butters, St. Thomas.
A shower was held in honor
of Marie McClure, bride-elect
of this month, in the basement of
the church on 'Tuesday evening
with Dorothy Dalton mistress of.
ceremonies. Linda Axtman sang
a solo accompanied by her mother
Kathy Bogey gave a reading. A
sing song was inviay Mrs. Bob
Campbell with Mina Scott as'
pianist. Joanne Johnson and
Kathy .Pryce sang a duet'accorn,
panied ,by Irma Pryce, Jane
Case gave a reading. Debbie
McClure read the address and
Marie was presented with many ,
lovely gifts.
The "Fall Thankoffering"
meeting will be held in the base-
ment of the church on November
14. Jane Davidson, Brucefield,
will be guest speaker.
. 4-H CLUB
The fifth and sixth meeting
of the, McKillop I Mlxmasters
was held at the home of Kim
Campbell on October 24. Roll
call was "Where my ancestors
Came from" and "One thing I
already know 'about Scandinavia
or Finland," Hungarian Goulash
and .Applecake with whipped
cream were made.
The seventh meeting of the
Mixmasters was held at Marilyn
Koehlers. Roll call Was "Name
a country I would like to visit
and why."
On November 12 the .club is
having a party with Clinton IV
club at Cavan United Church.
The skit being performed at
Achievement Day was discussed.
Indian Curry, Irish Soda Bread,
and Almond Cakes were made.
