"It's a contest", explained Ed.

When asked to describe a
day In the life of a mill
operator, Mrs. Dolmage had one
word, "hectic;'!
' An attractive woman, .pleas-
and and soft spoken, Mrs.
Dolmage works as a full-
time bookkeeper for .• Mitchell
Mobile Feed Service Limited as-
well as raising a family of four.
She has kept the books for the
family business • since her
husband. Ed. bought his first
mobile feed truck in /960. It's
only since Mitchell Mobile Feed
Service...beeameee limited com-
pany that she has been a paid
employee.
Before the completion of the
new • mill. the office operated. out
of the Doll:Liege's residence on
Francis Street, "Things should
be a little better organized with
more space to work in at the new
offices," said Jean. Both she and .
her husband will have an office
of their own at ,the new mill.
Highly regarded by her fellow
employees for ,her competence
with figures, Mrs. Dolinage
enjoys working, "The mill has
alwiys been a ream for Ed. and
I, it's hard to believe it's actually
finished."
)
'Working and keeping house
doesn't leave Jean much time for
h bbies, "I enjoy horseback rid-

equipment as a sideline."Running
the house isn't that mugh of a
chore es my eldest daughter is a
great help". She smiled." Linda
likes to cook anteis a very good
sewer". Linda Dolmage, a
pretty 18 year old is attending
'Sir Sandford Fleming College 'in
Lindsay this fall. She plans to
take a biologae option.-
Richard, 20, works. at the feed
mill and 16 yeei old Bruce has a
summer job there. The Dol-
mage's youngest, 7 year old Anne
is a curly headed bundle of fan
and. energy and is in . Grade 2
this year.
A typical day in the'Dolmage
household begins early at 6 a.m.
Ed. Dolmage does the morning
chores and then makes up 'the
list of routes for the mobile feed
mill operators when they come
in at 7.' After breakfast, "I
could be doing any number of
things", says Mr. Dolmage.
"Generally I talk' to salesmen
and do business with farmers
who need feed ground or wish to
buy grain or concentrate". Mr.
Dolmage's first concern is the
businessman or farther and his
needs. "If a man is in a hurry
and he needs his feed right away
we'll try to work him in" he
said. It isn't a job where
ode can pack it in at five o'clock,
if the mill has orders to fill
it'll still be operating at mid
night.
Lately the Dolmages have
been very .busy getting ,the mill
ready for the grand opening. Mr.

The mill 'cat
,
- Ever see a mill without a cat to catch the rat? This wee beastie is one of six mill kittens in
residence at the Mitchell Feed mill. Sure they're cute but they serve a very practical purpose.
A feed mill Is a rodent's paradise so the kittens are a preventative measure against invasion, The
sanitary land Lill site for Mitchell Is located directly behind the mill and rats may come into the
mill from that source. However they Oon't get far. The kittens will soon be keen 'mousers.
Donated by neighboring farmers the young cats are in training. Brought to the mill as newborns
they Will regard the mill as their home and won't roam. Full grown cats would be harder to keep
around. No pets these cats, they'll work for a living, a needed and necessary part of a mill.
