The August meeting of the
Seaforth, Womeneinstitute was
held at the home of Mrs. H,
Doig on Tuesday evening. Mrs.
Norman Riehi acted as PreSt-
dent in the absence of Mrs.
Arnold Taylor, Mrs. Bruce
Coleman acted as secretary in
the absence of Mrs. Gordon
Elliott.
The meeting opened with the
Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Col-
lect and 0 Canada, Minutes of the
last meeting were read and ap-
proved, Treasurer reporli'given
and correspondence read,. Thank
You cards from .the Cameron
family, Mr. Lorne Carter and
Mrs. Jas. Keys.
The 4-H Club training school
will be held in the Legion Hall,
Seaforth, Aug. 16 - 17th. This
club is 'on "world of Food in
Canada". The McKillop #4 club
needs Jeaders. The girls may
have to join another club, or drop
out.
Fashions of 1903 - 1973 are
being displayed in the - Seaforth
Community Centre on September
21st in connection with the Fall
Fair. Tickets are available
through the Ladies Division of
the Agricultural Society.
The Insti Jte members wilt
again this yearn have 4 lunch
booth on ThurSdayr' September
20 at noon for those who are
working around the grounds in
preparation for the. Fair On Sept.
21st.
Mrs. Ross Gordon gave a
report on the bus trip on Tuesday,
August 28 to the Hamilton and
Stoney Creek area. For infor-
mation call Mrs. Jas. Keys, Mrs.
Ros s Gordon or Mrs.Gordon El—
liott before August 24th.
Safety, Family and Consum-
ers Affairs was convened by
Mrs. John,„MacLean and Mrs.
H. J. Doig.
'Miss Susan Hildebrand Was
guest speaker and told how she
had taken driving lessons through
the board of education. Any boy
or girl 16 years or older can
apply. "these lessons include
6 hours driving and 24 lectures
also a book to read on driving.
Susan answered many questions„,
asked by the ladies. Mrs.Doig
presented Susan with a gift.
The roll call was: "Give an
experience you have had that has
made you a more careful driver
or pedestrian". Some of the
lessons were: Always take a
second look before you back up.
Warn your children and grand-
children who ride bicycles, to
always obey the Signs when you
come to a, tttcp "tin, It means

left turns. You should stop on

camper or trailer, to drive more
carefully and slower. The weight

they are travelling faster than you
think, allow more time.
