MRS.ANDR E W McNICHOL
Mrs. Andrew McNichol, 57,
of Seaforth, died in S e af or t h
Community Hospital saturday.
BOrn in Sarnia, she was the
former Verna Flood, a daughter
of Mrs. Clarence Flood of Sea-
forth, and the late Mr. Flood.
She was educated in Palmer-
ston.
She• wabarried to Mr. Mc-
Nichol in 1932 and came to live ,
in Seaforth in 1953.
She is survived by her hus-
band; her mother;, a son, Clar-
ence of Clinton; a daughter,Mrs.
Robert (Sharon) Elliott of Kit-
chener; a brother, William Flood
of Mitchell; a sister, Mrs.Ralph.
(Thelma) Keffer of Bluevale; five
grandchildren.

MRS. JOHN HAMILTON
Mrs. John Hamilton, 84,
Staffa, died in Hibbert Township
uesterday.
She was Janet McKellar, a
daughter of the late mi. and Mrs.
Alexander McKellar of Cromar-
ty. She was a member of the
Presbyterian Church.
She was married to John
Hamilton in Cromarty in 1913.
He died in 1931. .....
• Surviving are: a son, Robert
of R.R. 2, Staffa; daughters, Mrs.
Lorne (Mary) Elliott of Staffa,
Mrs-. Alvin (Anna) Kemp of Ful-
' larton Township; sisters, Mrs.

the previous year. Divorce re-
presented a supstantialportionot
legal' aid costs being 250 of the
Legal Aid dollar spent in Ontario
during the year.

Exeter; a brother, Malcolm of
Seaforth; nine grandchildren; six
great grandchildren. One brother
Duncan, predeceased her.
The funeral service was held
on' Saturday from the R.S. Box
Funeral Home in Seaforth •with
Rev. T.C. Mulholland and Rev.
W. Jarvis of Exeter officiating.
Burial followed in Roy's
cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Frank
Elliott, Larry Elliott, Glen
Elliott, John Hamilton, Gary
Kemp and Barry Kemp. Flower-
bearers were: Gordon Scott,
Frank Hamilton, Jim Hocking
and Robert Gardiner.,
WILLIAM STURGEON
William Sturgeon, 91, died
Tuesday in Clinton Public Hos-
pital. .
A native of Hayfield, he was
a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
James Sturgeon.
A well known fisherman, Mr.
Sturgeon lived for a number of
years in Seaforth and Clinton.
He has been retired since 1942.
His wife, the former Jessie
Wallis, to whom he was married
in St. Thomas in 1910 prede-
ceased him in 1958. He is sur-
vived by daughters, Berthena,
Mrs. Jack Hammond, Hayfield
and Audrey, " Mrs. Edward
Florian, Clinton and sons Newton
of Port Dover and James 'W. of
Clinton. He is also survived -by
seven grandchildren and eight
great grandchildren.
The remains will rest after
2 p.m. Thursday at the R. S.
Box funeral home where a fun-
eral service' will be held on
Friday at 2 p.m. conducted by.
Rev. G. Yonmatoff of Trinity
Anglican Church, Hayfield., In -
terment will follow in Hayfield
cemetery.
CARL E. DIEHL
Carl E. Diehl, a former third
generation farmer on the fifth
-concession, Stanley Township
died in Hayfield on June 18, •
in his eightieth year. He is
survived by.his..wife, the former
Lucy R. Woods., to whom he was
married in .Bayfield on Oet.,,-15,
1960. Following their marriage,
they lived at "The Hut", Hayfield.
A nephew, ' George Durtlam,
Clarkson, and a niece, Margaret
Durham, Darwin, Australia, also
survive.
Mr. Diehl was born in Stan-
ley Township and received his
education at Baird's School and
Clinton Collegiate. He was a
member of the Hayfield Agricul-
tural Society, Varna L.O.L. and
Trinity Church, Hayfield.
Funeral services were held
at Trinity Church, on June 21
at 2 p.m. Rev.Georgeoumatoff
and Rev. Hugh Crosby officiated.
Interment followed in Bayfield
Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Philip Ilunaulay, Wm. Parker,
Robert Glen, Les Elliott, Ken
Stewart and Arie Verhoef. Great
nephews, James and Ronald Dur-
ham were flower bearers.

nursing Womes
Eight areayoung people work-
ing on Project S.N.A.P.(Students
woring in .nursing-home activity
program) begin work in the Sea-
forth on July 3. Seaforth Manor
and Kilbarchan Nursing Home are
the selected homes in this area.
S.N.A..p. is part of Ontario's
-Experience '73 summer work
program and is operated by the
Youth Secretariat under the su-
pervision of the Honourable Mar-
garet Birch. The purpose of the
program is to provide social and
recreational outlets for elderly
citizens in selected nursing
homes.
Brian Miller, a fourth year
sociology student at University
of Western Ontario is co-ordina-
ting the program from his home
in Wingham, with the help of
personnel at Goderich Psychia-
tric Hospital. The area high
school students who are assist-
ing him are Joan Allen of Wood-
ham, Adrienne Van Raay of Dash-
wood, Joanne De Groot,Seaforth,
Olga Zemitis, Clinton and Mary
Gregg, Jan Green, Nina Knight
and Jody Cox all of Goderich.
The team is canvassing local
merchants for possible activity
articles andappreciate all dona-
tions that could be used in the
program.
The 72 graduates of the
Grade 8 class at Huron Centennial
School, Brucefield, were
honoured Tuesday evening with a
dinner attended by their parents
and teachers.
Dianne Oldfield of R.R. 4',
Seaforth, was named top
academic girl and Bev. Cantelon
of R.R. 5, Clinton, was runner-
up. Dale"Parsons of R.R. 3, Kip.,
pen, was top academic boy and
Robert Heard of Hayfield runner-
up.
Best all round girl was Sharon
Fialayson of R.R. 3, Kippen, and
Debbie Rose of R.R. 4, Seaforth
was runner-up.
Best all round boy was Robert
Heard of Hayfield and runner-
up was Jeff Allan of R.R. 1,
Brucefield.
The Fred Chapple memorial
award was presented by his son,
Wayne Chapple of Petawawa, to
Debbie Consitt of R.R. 3, Kippen,
the student who has done the most
for sports in Grade 8.
A staff award to the student
who has contributed much to
sports in Grade .8 went to `Kathy
Lawrence of R.R. 4, Seaforth,
The Ralph Whitmore mem-
orial award was presented by his
sister, Karen Whitmore, R.R. 4,

• Mrs, McKellar, formerly Lil-
lian Carter of Hullet Township,
is the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Carter.
Mr. McKellar was born in
Cromarty, son of thelate Mr.
and Mrs. Alex McKellar.
They have one son, Gordon of
Brampton and two daughters,
Margaret, Mrs. Richard Wil-
liams of Mount Clemens, Mich-
igan, and Isobel, Mrs. Hugh
Williams of St. Paul, Minnesota.
The couple have 8 grandchildren
and 2 great

GERALD H. SNOWDON
Gerald H. Snowdon died sud-
denly Monday evening at his
James Street home. He was 63.
Born In Little Current,
Ontario, he was the youngest
son of the late Rev.James F.
Snowdon and Mrs. Snowdon.
He attended Seaforth schools
and on graduation from Seaforth
Collegiate Institute joined the
staff of the family paper the
Seaforth News where he con-
tinued to work.
A veteran of the second war,
he served in England and on the
continent. He was a member of
Seaforth Branch •156, Royal
Canadian Legion.
He was married in 1946 to
the former Cornelia Wilgen-
kamp.
Mr. Snowdon is• survived by
daughters, Mrs. Peter. (Mary
Ann) Rowat of Toronto, Pamela
of Seaforth; sons, Jamesrof
Dublin, Thomas of Seaforth; a
sister, Gwendolyn of Exeter; a
brother Oswald of Seaforth; three
grandchildren.
The body is at the R. S. Box
funeral home. Funeral services
will be held Thursday at 1;30
p.m. at St. Thomas Anglican
Church, with Rev. Stanley
Sharpies officiating. Burial will
be at Maitla.ndbank cemetery.

Tremeer, David C. Cornish, Wm.
Southgate and John F. Flannery.
