The Kirkton Horticultural:So- • ciety held its annual bus trip. 'Three -bus. loads of members left early • in • the morning and arrived at the Elmira-'Farmers Market around nine o'clock. Several, purchases of home baking and needlework' and fresh vege- tables were made. Later in the morning visits were made to the Cole Bowman Art Studie, where we saw beautiful oil paintings, on to Brubacker's gro,cery store and the Sapbuckett Craft, Shop, pienic hindh was ,enjoyed at G,ib- son Park. In the afternoon a visit- was made to the Enchanted Doll Holm near Elora., Neatly 1,000 dolls were displayed in- different settings. Dolls dressed to represent every country in the ,world; nursery'rhymes and,Bible stories, etc. There was a model of a General store in 1867 and a Mennonite ' kitchen. . The Ben Accord Farm near Salem which featured antiques and wood crafts was also visited. • The buses returned to Elmira where a hot turkey supper was served in the Legion Hall.. 7 • . • Y. • JK • The South !Mon -.Christian Women's Club held their monthly song service irk 'the chapel Sunday evening with special Music supplied by a group of young people. ' Marie Flynn, of Clinton, 'Joined Nortnali Speir and Jerry Collins to provide the. music for Monday's activi- ties. A new resident, Mr, Sharp-er Goderich, was welcoined to the Home. The President;grs.Carl Mills, introduced the program which included a sing-a-long led by Mrs. Cann, an accordfan solo by David Rundle, vocal solos by Cheryl Cann and Suean Spence, a piano solo by Sandra SteWart; . instrumentals ' by Mrs. King, Maurice QUance, Cecil Skinner and Norman Speir. Gifts were presented to the celebrants following 'the singing- of Happy Birthday and lunch was 'served by the ladies. Mrs. Shapton, who :this • month celebrated her 97th birthday, expressed the appreciation- of the residents. The Rhythm Band from the Goderich Psychiatric Hos- pital. entertained the residents at the family night program. Gordon Harrison; leader of the band, arranged an hour of ,variety numbers. Miss pearl Gidley filled in with some piano instrumentals until the entertainers arrived. Mrs. • Rackwell thanked those taking,part on behalf of the residents. . The flowers in the church on Sunday last were in memory of .the late William Rodd of Exeter, -rforiner menrhrer. of this church.
