Brussels Minor Hockey
-Association and played the

team. He was the only

Industrial baseball has seen
little -action in recent weeks as

out and two of last Mondafs.,
games 'were postponed because
of the circus at the Optimist
Park.
Only one of the rained out
encounters 'has been played,That

their first season's win when
they upset the Teadhers by a

game was played last Thurs-
day night following the Juvenille ;-
game. It was called 'after five
innings because of rain. '
In the only game played
Monday evening the Mainstreet
squad continued their winning
ways when Bob Beuttenmiller
led the way with 3 triples in

8 Victory over the Firemen.

Monday night at the London oval True Personality
was 'second -in the sixth race. Wednesday night at
London Kendra Sea with Gerry Hoebudk on the bike
' won the sixth race. Thersday night at London, '7arry
on Sly was second in the tenth race with G,ord Pullman
driving. Fridiy night in the_ fourth race at London,
Hylyn Mary won". Hylyn Mary is owned by Seaforth
horseman' Sandy Doig and was driven to victoryby
'Ray McLean. The mile was in 2.12:1 and the payoff
was $15.90. in the same race TiMely Pat driven by
' Frank MacDonald was second paying $6.40 for place.
The two horses combined for an exactor of $84.70, in
the first race. Preble Knight was first with Gord Pull-
man on the hike in the time of 2.08:4- for a- pay off of
$3.70. '
Saturday night 9,970 fans at the London track- saw
'Blaze Herbert break his own trot. record of 2.03:2--Wilen
he'; won the eighth race in 2.02:2 the. fastest mile of
the night. This was also anew personal mark for Blaze
Herbert. This horse is owned by Bill Herbert and was
:driven to victory' by son Jack. The payoff was $3.00,.
At Elmira Friday night Wayne Dupee had a good
* night when. he drove Claybrook Ricci to a third in the
fourth race then Came back to win the tenth race
with Johnny pull. Johnny Pullpayed $9.70 for the win.

We were sorry' to hear of the passing of Gerald
(Carl) Van Der Zon Sunday. Carl was one of the more
active followers of the horses and always enjoyed
a good race . This-reporter has been to many of the
tracks with Carl -and he was always willing to give a
horseman a hand at any time. We know that Carl will
be missed by all. Carl leaves a wife and two daughters.
The funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Tuesday night Barb Osborne's
team met Marian Pullman'Steann
at 7:00 at the optimigt grounds.
Spectators saw a close game with
' Marian's team, overtaking
Barb's by 29-28. It is worthwhile
to come out and watch the keen

play in the 5th inning and two home
runs, one from Mary Connolly,
and one from Dorothy' Theyns-
bergen. 12 runs counted for
Joan's team in the bottom- of the
seventh inning. Bonnie's team
won over Joan's team by 39-17.
It is hoped,that real team spirit,
for all teams by all players
will result this year.
