�►f Tufts, of Belgrave, (aa well known
Cllntonian) has related a largo house in
Chicago, and will shortly go there to look
after it. The house is only two miles from
the World's Fair buildings, and will be
fitted up as a boarding house, where, no
doubt, Huronians will find the acconamo
dation they need during their vieit to the
fair, She has taken a lease of the
house till the first ot November. If we
were to mention the rent that she is to
pay it would startle people here,

appointed agent at the Alvinston station
of the G. T. R., and has entered uponhis
duties.

Mrs. Owen Ilitchcox, the lecture -
singer, gave four of her lectures here
on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of
this week. On Sunday afternoon she
was lii seened to by a large audience
in the Methodist church, and on Sunday
evening at 8 o'clockthe church was crowded,
many signing total abstinence pledge. On
Monday evening she spoke in St. Andrew's
church on "Neutrality"; she had a large
audience of eager and sympathetic listeners
and on Tuesday evening she reviewed the
prohibition movement and inauguration cf
the state of Kansas. She is an excellent
speaker and her discourses are full of facts
concerning the enormity of the liquor traffic.
Though some of her statements were ex-
tremely startling they could not in the
smallest degree be refuted. Her singing
Was a very important feature, and she was
assisted at all her meetings by a union
choir. C;Ovor two hundred and six signed
the pledge, end Blytk never before received
such a temperance revival.—Standard.

where Mr. Boss lived.

Howlett Township is reaping the benefit
of foolish competition between the Gerrie
publishers, and will have the township
printing done for $38.75 for one year. The
work to be dodo is actually worth about
$8.5.
The older residents of. Gerrie and vicin-
ity will regret to hear of the death of Mrs.
Llisha Hughes, formerly of that place,
which sad event took place in tho State of
