ested in simple, clear exposition that indicates an
awareness by.the reader of the role, of the week--

Entries will first be published in the member'
paper. •
Judges will not look for excessively 'high
praise for the local weekly; they will study the
judgment and understanding by readers of the
function of the weekly. This could come from a
weekly of'any size,' large or small.
This is a unique award since it is offered not to
member papers, their staffi or regular• contribu-
tors (they are speCifically excluded), but to the
reader of a CWNA weekly who best describes in
his or her own words just what the weekly news-
paper means to him or her

Eighteen members of theSea-
forth Horticultgal Society tra-
velled to Blyth Saturday for the
annual meeting of District 8 of
the ()aerie Borth ultural Asso-
ciation attended by 1,50 gardening
enthusiasts from Western On-
tario. ' •
District 8 has '17 societies
ranging from , Lions Head south to
Brussels and Seaforth. There
are 16, ,districts in Ontario with a
membership of 45,000 members.
Phil Dodds of Picton, a past
president of Ontario Horticul-
tural Association, was the guest
speaker who urged- the,,planting
of trees to help purify the air.
He suggested planting trees as
memorials, to mark birthdays,
anniversaries and other impor-
tant days in one's life. He en-
couraged members to keepupthe
battle against litterbugs.
