Grant Chisholm of Lucknow was elected chairman for Zone 3 North, at the annual rally held in Blyth on Wednesday and William Pinder of Seaforth was elected chairman of Zone 3, South. About 180 Lions, representing clubs from Zurich, Bayfield, Exeter, Wingham, Brussels, Teeswater, Lucknow,, Blyth, Goderich, Clinton and Seaforth, attended the,rally. '(Photo by Oke) Announce teams for industrial ball '7 Men's thdustrial Baseball will begin May '7th. The•decision was taken at an organizational meeting Wednesday night when members of the executive, and representatives '1:51' each team were on hand to set the rules for the coming season. Only six teams are entered this year as the Mechanics and Legion have .dropped. out. • All games will again be played on Monday nights with a single game being played at the Lions Park and a double header will be played at the Optimist Park. The early gamds are called for 7 p.m. with the late encounter at 8;30 p.m. The teams will use the 117/8" ball again this season and the rules will, be available from the 'team captains. With the six teams entered they will play a 15 game schedule meeting each team three times. All six teams will then enter the playoffs. The' list of players and schedule are below. MacNaughton,' chairman of the Ontario Racing Com- mission. He succeeds Brigadier Frederick C. Wallace D.S.O. M;C. who was appointed chairman in 1965. Mr. IViacNaughton will serve a two year term as• chairman, and can •be appointed to further two year terms. The 1972 membership of the Ontario Racing Commission was 16,000. The fastest mile paced' in Canada this year was on Friday, March 30, at -Blue Bonnets. The mile in 2.00:4 was paced by the •five year old stallion wanaque. This horse is owned by Gerry Semmelhaack and Ed. Cohen of-Montreal. Monday night at the London oval Mis's' Belle Bars won the third race with Frank MacDonald on the bike. Miss Belle Bars is owned by Fred Fowler. The mile was in 2.07:4 and the pay off was $6.60. In the same race Hurricane Lisa was out .of the money. In the fourth race True Personality was fourth. At Greenwood, Wed. night the fifth race had to be declared .no contest and the money wagered returned due to fog. On Saturday afternoon at the London 'oval Artic John was fourth. At Hanover Saturday night El Sam 0 won the .first . race with Gord Pullman on the bike. •El Sam 0 is owned by the, partnership of Joe , and Jim Dick and Dick Burgess, all of Seaforth. The mile was in 2.13:1 with a pay off $3.20. In the sixth race Royal Colleen, owned py Williain Laverty, Seaforth, was third; with Ron Williamson driving. • ' ' We are glad to hear that Wayne Dupee was only shaken up when he was involVed in an accident.while driving Claybrook Ricci in the fifth, race at Hanover.
