He was Bridge Superintendent. from 1938 until he retired in Brussels in 1967, He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Smith Miller, one daughter Mrs. Geoffrey (Jean) Marston of Oshawa and two sons, Vern of Kingston and Glen of Grey Township; and a sister, Mrs. Wm. McDonald of Brussels. The funeral service was held from the M. L. Watt's Funeral Home, Brussels at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26th. Rev, L. E. LeDrew of Brussels was the officiating minister. A memorial service was, held at the Funeral Home at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday evening under the aus- pices of Forest Lodge AF & AM No. 162 of Wroxeter. Temporary entombment took place In Brussels Burial Chapel. Pallbearers were Reginald and Carson Watson, Anson, Rus- sel, Leo and Robert Ruttan. Flowers were carried by Lloyd and Arthur Ruttan. Mrs. Reta Upshall who has been a patient in the hospital is able to be up and around again. UNIT MEETINGS The 17th and Boundary unit met Wednesday afternoOn at the home of Mrs. Hugh Johnston. Mrs. Jan VanV-liet Sr. opened the meeting with the thought for the day followed by a poem. "Breathe on me, Breath of God" was sung and Mrs. VanVliet read the scripture lesson from Luke 1-10.ee. ting7s. Cliff Ritchie took as her topic "T he Last Prayer Meeting". The president conducted the business. Mrs. Harold McCallum read the minutes. It was agreed to donate to the March of Dime's. Tne Thankoffering is being held at Duff's United Church, Sunday evening, April 15th. Mrs. Van Vliet offered to have the next meeting at her home. "Jesus united by Thy grace" was sung. Mrs. VanVliet and Mrs. Cliff Ritchie assisted the hostess in serving lunch. MCKILLOP UNIT Ten members attended the McKillop unit meeting in the church basement Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Stewart McCall opened the devotidnal period with a poem, "Voting" followed by singing "In the Cross of Christ I Glory" accompanied by Mrs. Laverne Godkin at the piano. Mrs. Dave , Watson read the scripture from the first letter of John. , The meditation, "The Cross Con- fronts us today" waas given by Mrs. McCall. Mrs. Norman Schade gave the• topic from Hasten the Day by Jessie Beatty. It told of a way- ward girl , named Jeannie, con- cerntng the indirect part a police- man and a padre VaYed in her life. "Jesus keep me near the Cross" was sung followed by Mrs. Schade giving a prayer. - Mrs. John Burch conducted' biftitiess, thanking those who took part in the leadership and topic. The roll call was a "Blues Chaser". Lunch was served by the hos- tesses, Mrs. Merton Hackwell, Mrs.Keey. W AL TONIII The third meeting of Walton III Club of "Sportswear with Knits" was held at the home of Dianne Dennis. The President Joyce McCallum opened the meeting. It was decided to name the club, "Sporty Knits". The leaders, Mrs. H. Callum and Mrs. Barry Hoegy gave tips on pressing. The fourth meeting of Sporty Knits, Walton III was held at Marion and Joyce McCallum's home. The secretary, Peggy Dennis read the minutes. The leaders talked about neckline facings, and the.bending rolled edge trim, also appliques were discussed. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mc Callum, Marion and Joyce visited recently with friends in Detroit. We aye sorry to hear William Bell has been a patient in Wing- ham Hospital, his many friends hope he'll soon be able to be back home again. Mr. and Mrs. Egglestone and IS little daughter of `Goderich have taken up residence in their new home on the farm formerly owned by Ron Williamson. We welcome the Egglestone family to the Walton Community. This , coming Sunday, the Mission Band members are re- minded of their meeting at the same time. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reid were: Mr. and Mrs. Bob Machan and girls, and Mrs. Laura Meehan of Sarnta; Mrs. Guy Ryan, Tom and, xathleen of Lucan and Mr. and yrs. Jim Scott Sr. of Blyth. Mrs. George Fox and Mrs. • Charlie McGavin formerly of, the Walton area are patients in Sea- forth Hospital. Miss Brenda Bewley, nurse- in-training in Chatham, spent the weekend at her parent's home. Mr. and Mrs. Watson Webster 'of Clinton, were Sunday evening supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and boys. Mr. and Mrs.. George Mc Callum and family of Galt spent a day last week at the home ..of Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum. The W.I. are sponsoring a Dessert Euchre Thursday, in the community hall.‘4 and Mrs. Dave Brady of Toronto spend the weekend with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Leeming. Mrs. Maude Leeming visited on Sunday at the same home. Mrs. Dave Watson and Mrs. Pete McDonald visited one day last week with Mrs. Maude Leeming.
