• The Seaforth Industrial
Hockey League wound up its
14 game regular season schedule
en Sunday night with two close
games. In the more important
contest the Kings spotted the
Stars the only goal of the first
Period and then roared back with
three unanswered markers to
down the Stars 3 - 1 and clinch
first place. Both Teams were
tied with seventeen points going
into the game.
Ray Devereaux, Bill Boshart
and Dale Kennedy each shot sing-
les for the Kings while Brian
Leonhardt connected for the
Stars.
,Although the Stars finished
• in 'second place they still managed
to pick up two individual tro-
phies. Jerry Cooper and Kevin
Henderson corn5ined for a 2,79
goals against average to win
the LILL. leading goalie award.
Cooper allowed 39 goals in
thirteen games while Henderson
recorded a shutout in his only
performance, The twosome al-
lowed three goals fewer than
Maurice Huard of the Kings..
Also Steve Southgate won the
I.H.L, scoring championship with
25 points, based on a league
leading 14 goals and 11 assists.
His closest rival was team-
mate Don Hulley with 22 points.
Southgate assisted on the
Stars only goal Sunday night.
In the early game, the Flyers
got two late last period goals
from Bill Tea11 to nip the Blues
4 - 3. The Blues led 3 -2
going into the final period but
strong netminding from Gary
Osborne kept them off the score
sheet the rest of the way. Bill
Price and Jim Carter scored the
• other goals for the Flyers, while
Bill Pinder, VeteranJimmy wat-
son and League Badman Garyil
Betties replied for the Blues.
The Play-offs will begin this
Sunday March 4 with the first

most of the contest) got a goal
from Jim Finlayson with fifty
seconds remaining in regulation
time to knot the score ,at 3-3
and force the game into a ten-
minute overtime period.
After a scoreless first period
the Blues took a two goal lead
at the end of the second stanza
on tallies by Danny Muir, and
defenceman Gary Betties.

Montgomery to make the score
3-2 and set the stage for Fin-
layson's tieing marker. In the
overtime period the Stars com-
pletely reversed the game as they
held the Blues to hardly a shot

assists going, to the Henderson
boys, Kevin and Jim. Jim Hen-

We are pleased to note that one of the local
trainers has decided to give married life a try,
Phil Bisback and Rose Polland were married Friday
evening, March 2. We wish Phil and Rose all the
luck.
Wednesday night at Western Fair Raceway, Gord.
Pullman upset the odds Makers when he piloted the
fine pacer 'Carry on Sly', owned by ArdyPark of
Mitchell to victory. Carry on Sly paced the mile in
2.10:2. The pay off was $23.30 fora two dollar wager.
Spring can not be far away. The first "B" track
to open will be Orangeville on Sunday, March 11, with
afternoon racing. They tell us they have a new hundred
stall barn ready for this season. we' know that this
track will continue to have the fine races for which
they have been noted in the past years. It would be
well worth a visit.
Saturday afternoon at Western Fair Raceway
'Johnny Pull', owned by Bruce Dupee, Clinton, formerly
of Seaforth, won the 10th race. Wayne Dupee drove
the horse to victory in 2.18 oyez a sloppy track. The
pay off, was $10.80,
Seaforth should be well represented the raceways
this year as there are no less than twenty horses in
training at the local track.
