ronto, also survived by one bro-
ther Irwin of Sarnia, 9 grand-
children and one great grand-
child. Mr. Agar was born and
educated in Belfast, Ontario,"
coming to Roxboro in 1921 where
he was a well-known thresher.
T In 1948 he moved to Sarnia and '
retired ,from • polymer con-
poratibn Ltd. as a.statidnery;are44
gineer in 1964. He returned' to.
Egmondville in 1971.
The funeral was held Satur-
day, Feb. 24th from the Box
Funeral Home with Rev. D. Pat-
terson officiating. Pallbearers
were Kenneth Thompson, Helmer
Snell,,Gordan Papple, Sam Scott,
Robert McMichael, Joseph Hu-
gill. Flowerbearers were:
Spencer Broome, Murray Noble,
Wm. Trapnell and Michael Kil T
breath. Temporary entombment
in the Pioneer Memorial Mauso-
leum with interment later in
Maitlandbank Cemetery.
COL. EUGENE TIEMAN
Col. Eugene Edward Tiernan,
61, assistant national director
of the Red Cross blood trans-
fusion service, died Friday fol-
lowing a heart attack.
Col. Tiernan was born
in DashWood and studied at the
University of Western Ontario,
graduating in 1935. He practised
in Tavistock before joining the
army medical corps as a lieu-
tenant.
He also was former assistant
national director of the Canadian
Cancer Society.
He is survived by his wife
and three children. Mrs. E.H.
Close of Seaforth is a cousin.

THOMAS MURTHA
Thomas Murtha, James St.,
Mitchell, passed away in Victoria
Hospital, London, on Saturday,
February 17, where he had been
a patient for five days.
Born near Lindsay on Decem-
ber 27, 1902, he was a.,son of
the late Thomas Murtha and the
former Alice Farrell. He moved
as a youth to Linday where he

serving in this capacity for 44
-years. He taught at Wiarton for
26 years and for ' 7 years at
Englehart. Fourteen years ago
he came to Mitchell to join the
Mitchell Zlistrict high school staff
and retired.in 1970.
lie was a member of St. Vin-
cent de Paul Roman Catholic
Church and was a past president
of the Wiarton and EnglehartRo-
tary clubs.
Surviving are his wife, - the
former Vaneda Widmeyer, whom
he married on July 20, 1935; five
sons, Thomas North Bay; Peter,
Ottawa; Michael, Peterborough;
William, Brighton and David,
Mitchell, and one daughter, Eliz-
abeth, attending university in
France; also two sisters, Annie,
Mrs. Roy Brennan, Lindsay and
Ella, Mrs. A.R: MacGregor, Wil-
lowdale and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one bro-
ther and one sister.
The late Mr. Murtha rested
at the Lockhart funeral home,
removal being made to St. Vin-
* cent de Paul Church on Wednes-
day for funeral mass celebrated
by Monsignor C.G. Adams. Tem—
porary entombment was made in
the Elizabeth Ritz Memorial
Chapel in Mitchell for burial
later in St. Vincent de Paul
cemetery.,

William Isaac Nigh of 370
Steeles Ave., Brampton, son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Luke
Nigh passed away atMississauga
General Hospital on Feb.10,1973.
He was the husband of the
ft:wirier Betty Trimper and father
of Mrs. Bryden Rosbdrough
(Betty Lou) of Burlington. He
also is survived by two grand-
daughters.
Mr. Nigh is survived by three
brothers, Edward of London, Am-
brose of Niagara Falls and Peter
VA of Islington also four sisters;
Mrs. Peter Bicknell (Tillie) Kit-
chener; Mrs. Mabel Sutherland of
Cambridge (Galt); Mrs. Frank
Henderson (Mary) and Mrs. Phi-
lip Fisher (Dorene) both of
Niagara Falls.
The remains rested at the
Turner and Porter Funeral Home
Cooksville. Funeral Mass was
held at St. Martha Mary's Church.
