LOSE TO EXETER
Seaforth Midgets were downed
•by the Exeter Midgets in an ex-
hibition game played onFebruary
8.
In a good, well refereed game,
Seaforth received 3 of the 5
minor penalties assessed.
' Exeter started very fast, and
Seaforth could never really get
untracked in the game.
Exeter scored all their goals
in the first period. First, Brian
Taylor scored from Wayne Re-
geir - then Larry McDonald
scored with assists going to Brian
Taylor and Steve Pfaff. John
Vreise finished out the scor-
ing for Exeter in the period,
connecting from Brad Roelson.
Seaforth got their lone goal in
the game when Dave McClure
scored at the 6:54 mark from
Brian Lane and Barry Lane.
Neither teams scored in the
final period. Final Score; Exe-
ter 3 Seaforth 1.
SEAFORTH TRIUMPHS
OVER CLINTON
' In a game played at Seaforth
Arena on February 10, the Sea-
forth Midgets squeezed past the
Clinton Midgets 3-2.
Of the 32 minutes in minor
penalties assessed in the game,
Seaforth received 18. There was
also a fight in which both teams'
players tangled and received a
5-minute major penalty. There
was also a 10-minute misconduct
and game misconduct received
by one of the players on the
Seaforth squad.
This was a Clinton home
game, and due to the circum-
stances of the' winter carnival
being held at the name time, the
pine was shifted to Seaforth and
,two Clinton referees handed out
the penalties in the game.,
It was a tight, closely played
game with both teams turning out
excellent performances.
At the 12;55 mark of the
first period, Buttler scored Aor
Clinton from Graham and Cook..
Seaforth evened the score then
with Brian. Lane scoring from
Dwayne Cornish.
- In the second period, Clinton
broke 'the- deadlock with Heipel
scoring from MacDonald. Brian
Murray then scored what proved
to be the tieing goal, unassisted.
This put a real spark of incen-
tive into the Seaforth team to
get them gang in the game.
In the last period with both
offenses going strong, the two
teams received excellent goal-
keeping, with Rity Hutchinson ten-
ding the nets for Seaforth and
Dean Ryan doing the chores for
Clinton. Each goalkeeper made
several big saves on numerous
scoring chances, and kept the
score low and close. With 33
seconds left, and the teams tied
at 2-2 there was a scramble
in front of the net. Danny Nolan
dug the puck loose and flipped.
it over the fallen Clinton goal-
keeper, Ryan. The assists on
the goal went to Dwayne Cornish'
and, Bill O'shea. Clinton pressed
to - even. the score in the remain-
ing feW seconds, but failed. Final
Score - Seaforth 3, Clinton 2.

The annual spring show held in Seaforth's Main Street
was an event to which the community looked forward during
the long winter months and generally was a certain sign
that spring was at hand.
This picture, taken perhaps fifty years ago, shows a
horse class lined up ready for judging in front of what now is
the Box Furniture Store. At the time the picture was taken
the stores to the right were occupied by H. B. Edge Hardware.
Trapnell Bakery is in the R. H. Peck and Co. store to the left.
The picture was made available by Mrs. Edith Baker and
her father, the late John Dale, is in the buggy at the extreme
right.' With him is the late Wm. Connell,.
