He is an Ojibway Indian child with big brown eyes, black hair and dark skin. Davey is sturdy, boisterous and 'very active, apparently in excellent health. But he has a rare hereditary condition, Von Recklinghousen's disease, which is characterized by smooth coffee-colored spots on face, chest, arms -and legs, It has no effect otherwise on him at present but its implications are unknown. However, his natural mother who has the same disease, appears healthy and well. At present the feeling is that Davey will not be academically minded, although he is alert and responsive to stimulation. He has just discovered the telephone and is always the first to answer it. With his limited vocabulary this may create puz- zlement at the other end, but members of his foster family understand and chat away to him while he listens with absorbed attention. Davey is a vocal boy who laughs a lot, sings to himself and tries to imitate everything said to him. An affectionate young- ster, he loves Other children. His beguiling personality wins friends quickly but he is-timid with new people. He likes men better than women. He has a 'robust appetite and sleeps well. `Cheerful, noisy, lovable Davey needs loving parents who can accept his medical history without alarm. Walton A social evening was held for Mr. and Mrs. Ron Williamson and family at their new home in Seaforth when friends and neigh- bours of the 17th and Boundary gathered to bid them farewell from the community. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mc- Gavin are spending the sinter Months in Florida. Harold McCallum, Don Den- nis, Gordon Murray, Barry Hoegy, Murray Dennis of Walton and area and Russell McCallum of Mitchell spent a week fishing recently. at Manitoulin Island. Mr. George Blake returned home from Wingham Hospital fol- lowing X-rays and observation for nearly a week. Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Achilles spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taylor and family of Kintail. The community extends sym- pathy to the Shortreed family in the passing of Mrs. Tom Short- reed (the former Ellen Robson) who passed away Friday after- noon in the K-W Hospital, Kitchener following a car ac- cident when she was injured last Sunday evening. Tom Shortreed, who was re- leased from Listowel Hospital Hospital to attend the funeral of. his late wife has been ad- mitted to Clinton Public Hospital. Gordon Murray and Harold McCallum spent Saturday in Toronto where they attended the Farm Show in the Coloseum dur- ing the day and the hockey game at night. Miss Karen McDonald and Hob Warwick of 'Sarnia visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken McDonald.
