• A general meeting of Bruce-'
field, U.C.W. was, held in-the
meting room of Brucefield
United. Church, 'Tuesday after-
noori January 2.
Unit 1 were in charge of dea
votion with Mrs. Jack Henderson
and Mrs. John Broadfoot as
leaders. Mrs. Henderson opened
with a New. Year's message and
Mrs, Broadfoot took different
verses of Scripture and spoke on
them., Mrs. Henderson closed
with prayer. '
Mrs. Stuart Wilson presided
for business and , Mrs. Edgar
Stoll .acted as:Secretary in the
absence of Mrs. Vic Hargraves.
Roll call was. answered by 16
members and year end reports,
given- for all United. It was
decided to use artificial flowers
for. winter 'months. Knitted arti-
cles are to be turned in at March
meeting. World Day of Prayer
is to be held in Kippers Church.

The inaugural meeting of the
Village of Brussels Council was
held in the Municipal Office on
Monday; January 8th. Reeve J.L.
McCutcheon presided and wel-
comed the new counCil member,
Wayne Lowe. Also present at
the meeting were Cal.Krauter
and C.L, Workman, p.U.C. Coin-
missionera.

• tered the Oath of Office, Rev.
C. A. McCarron of Melville
Presbyterian Church addressed
the -village officers with an in-
spiring talk.

thanking Nr. McCarroll.

keting board refleact associations

Hon. Wm. A. Stewart, Minis-
ter of Agriculture and food an-
nounced the implementation of
the he. Egg Marketing Plan for
Ontario effective January 1. The
new plan extends authority to the
Ontario Egg Producers' Market-
ing Board to allocate quotas to
all Ontario egg producers with
flocks of .500 birds,or more, and
to require that .all eggs from
'flocks of producers to whom
quotas have been allocated be•
either sold to, or through, the
Ontario Egg Producers' Market-
ing Board. . •
In making the announcement
the Minister noted that the Move
was imperative IVOntario is to be
in a position to participate in
the National Egg Marketing pro,
gram which was recently pro=
claimed. Kr. Stewart also
.pointed out' that this action follows
closely the principal recommen-
dations of Judge James F. %Ross

sion has completed its studies
of the data that resulted from the
producer questionnaires; and as
a result, the new Board will viery
shortly begin to allocate basic •
quotas 'to individual producers:
•' The new Board has other res-
'ponsibilities that will challenge,
it in the months ahead. It will
be expected to develop an equit-
able system of regional reore-
'sentatton on the new Board, and'
to develop a practical electoral
system over a period of thaw." ,

Road Accounts of $3,285.50

$4,575.05 were approved.
A $335,950 budget for 1973
was proposed Monday for the
,Ausable-Bayfield Conservation
Authority, an increase of$67,952
over this year, due mainly to
'continuation df the authority's
capital spending programs. '
The authority proposes to
spend $50,000 in 1973 on land
purchases for its conservation
program. It hasbudgeted$10,000
this year but only $1,766 was
approved by the Ministry.,
Another major budget propo-
sal next year will be $60,000
for the engineering phase of an
erosion control pvoject,at Grand
Bend. Tenders have been called
and the authority is currently
awaiting provincial , approval for
the river project upstream from
Highway 21.
Other capital spending pro-
posals include: continuation of
a Port Franks erosion control
study, $15,600; development of the
Parkhill conservation area,
$10,000 development of the Port
Blake conservation area just
ndrth of Grand Bend on land
leased from ' the Lake Huron
water supply plant, $7,500;
development

of a conservation
area in Stanley Township
$10,000; gully control in the Bay-
field area, $5,000; head office
expansion and renovation, $3,500;

Administration costs of,
$130,650 are budgetetiefdr 1973,
an increase of $13,950; Main-
tenance expenditures are to be
held to this year's $22,000 figure,
as are day-to-day dam costs,
at $2,900. Major dam Main.:
